Google notice: Someone has your password

Sun May 21, 2017 4:56 am

After using Mailwasher I get notification that someone has my password, that someone logged in to my account, however, the location informed is not my geographical location.

I live in São Paulo - SP, Brazil, but I get notification that access was made from Boardman, OR, USA. IP also is not my IP.

This is normal?

Thanks in advance.

What gave the notification? That was likely spam itself.

As noted, it is not normal. And not likely someone really has your password. If they did, they would likely change it. If you can still get into your account settings with your password, they are trying to trick you. I hope you didn't click on anything. And if you can get into your account settings, change your password to a very strong password just to be sure. Use upper and lower case letters, numbers and special characters and make it at least 8 characters long.

Thank you friend.

I already use a very secure password, with 18 characters (if I remember correctly), with capital letters, lowercase letters, symbols and numbers.

What I found strange is that it was just after using MailWasher.

There is a lot of spam running around now. Be careful to screen any of those to see where and who they came from. I've had two or three in the last few weeks.

Again, what was "it". That is, what gave the notification? It would not have been MailWasher. So was it another email? If so, it was likely spam. A pop-up? If so, have you scanned for malware and again, I hope you didn't click on anything - except to close it.

The information was given immediately after I used Mailwasher on my computer. I received notice on my smartphone and email saying that there was access that was blocked, but with my password by anyone IP 54.187.213.243 from Boardman, OR, EUA... I´m live in Sao Paulo, SP, Brazil.

Thank you.

Okay, I see. It is a notice from Google, not MailWasher. And it is not an email.

Do you access your gmail and Google account from 2 different devices? For example, your PC and your phone. That may the issue.

If you have changed your password since getting that notice, I would not worry about it.

That IP looks to belong to Amazon Web Services, so if you're using MW Mobile or HideAway this might happen ,as we run both those services on Amazons cloud.
