Whoops!
Hi Nick,
I spoke too soon!
The Beta Version 3.1 is giving me heartaches!
On both of my Two Windows 10 Laptops it works fine as long as I do not restart the system.
Upon a restart and attempting to initialize Hideaway it wants to reinstall the driver,
which always fails.
After uninstalling the software using Revo Pro there are quite a number of files left over including The Driver (Windows\System32\Drivers), which precludes any attempt to reinstall the software. To remove this leftover driver I have to resort to restarting in Safe Mode and renaming the offending driver, since the system will not allow me to delete it. Then, and only then can I reinstall the software.
What is going on??
HELP!
Regards
Jerry Moore..AKA Jancux

Hi Nick
Could CCleaner be the culprit?

Re: Forum Issue
On your screenshot, CCleaner is just displaying a reference in the registry, to the HideAway driver which is no longer valid — CCleaner does not clean the registry, by default (the user is required to select Registry Cleaner options on a manual basis.)
BTW, this discussion has gone completely off-topic.

Thanks Jerry, we'll get a programmer on to it tomorrow.
Could we also get C:\Users\{user}\AppData\Roaming\hideaway\Logs\browser.log

Re: HideAway Issue
Hi Nick,
As requested, attached the HideAway Browser Log File.
However…
Since I stopped CCleaner clearing the mentioned register entry (unticked “Installer”) it would appear that the Beta 3.0.1 software is behaving as expected on both Windows 10 Laptops, which is a relief. That is even after System Restarts/New Boots from Shutdown, and not just from Hibernation.
It would therefore suggest that there is a connection…watch this space!

Re: HideAway Issue
To me, the issue looks to be more of a partial incompatibility with Windows 10.

Re: HideAway Issue
Ok good to hear you got it sorted out. Have to a bit careful with removing registry entries, but the below would have solved it I think.
We thought Revo Pro might have removed the driver file instead of uninstalling it.
So we would have suggested the following:
cmd as Administrator
Uninstall with Command line
Restart Computer
Install with Command line
Restart Computer
Uninstall with Command line
Restart Computer
Install with Command line
Restart Computer
Run HideAway.
The reason is, our uninstaller has to detach the service but if this REvo Pro is doing something silly then first we need to uninstall (will prob. fail because of Revo). Then when we install it'll prob. still fail but get somewhere closer, then uninstall should clean it up properly then install will see if it installs okay.

Re: HideAway Issue
Hi Nick
Thanks for your usual prompt reply.
Your methodology works absolutely fine!
Checked after the uninstall, and yes the driver is gone from C:\Window>|System32>drivers, unlike the result of uninstalling using Revo.
What method do you suggest for a complete uninstall of HideAway 3, would you consider it a good idea to provide, for example, a Batch File to execute the uninstall?
Regards to all

Re: HideAway Issue
The uninstall from 'Programs and Features' should run the uninstall properly anyway, but yes a batch file for troubleshooting is a good idea. We'll get that sorted.

Re: HideAway Issue
Hi Nick,
The following may be of interest to you.
Following a full HideAway uninstall followed by a new install the HideAway Driver Icon displayed by Revo is only a blue Icon.
After using your command line processes of uninstalling and reinstalling the Diver, Revo shows the correct HideAway Logo Driver Icon.
Curious!
Best Regards
Jerry

Re: HideAway Issue
The color of HideAway Driver icon is blue here, too — Revo Uninstaller Pro does not do a great job at icon reproduction.
On the other hand, Total Uninstall Professional displays a more accurate icon rendition — has superior capabilities, too.
