Hi all,
I am trying to set up MW Pro on my new Windows 7 machine. All goes well except that I need to be able to restore emails wrongly deleted to the recycle bin. This works on my XP laptop and I enter exactly the same settings on the W7 machine and MW tells me I need to enter a valis SMTP address. The two sets of settings can be seen at:-
http://imageevent.com/midline/blogimage ... =1&s=0&z=3
and
http://imageevent.com/midline/blogimage ... =1&s=0&z=3
The first being the W7 and second the XP version that works. Can anyone tell me what might be happening? I can't use MW unless I know that an accidentally deleted email can be restored:(
Thanks for any help.
Phil

Re: Restore settings?
Not sure what is going wrong. Best thing to do is go to the Help and About menu on each machine, enable logging and open the link found there. Restore a message from each machine and then look for the socketlog file in the window that the link opened. If you do a mail check you might end up with several log files so sort through them looking for the one to your SMTP server.
Once you have the logs you can compare them to see what is making the one unhappy.
Don't forget to turn the logging back off when finished.

I am not a Firetrust employee just a MW user.

Re: Restore settings?
By rejecting the SMTP server address I have to wonder if the uppercase letters are causing issue. They really shouldn't, would be pretty amateurish of us if it did....but still, looking at the screens it's worth a shot

Re: Restore settings?
Ah true, the old 'restart to fix random issues' is largely undocumented but a very handy feature
Glad it's sorted now.
