My stupid SMTP Server

I used to have no trouble with bouncing, remote deletion etc. For some reason my SMTP Server has quit doing authentication so MW is in a tailspin as to be effective. Is there such a thing as using a different SMTP Server without starting up new accounts elsewhere? They are so big, impersonal and incompetent to boot that I fear the best features of MW are history. Maybe someone knows of a work-around in this sort of case.
