Try reinstalling it.

Did you try looking in your System Notification Area to find out whether MWP is actually starting but hidden away?

Is MailWasher.exe running as a background process under Task Manager?

Did you try disabling your security system . . . . . temporarily?

What is the error you're getting - screenshot(s), please.

Are you running the V6 or the V7?

There is nothing in my system notification area or in the task manager, as for a screenshot, how do I take a screenshot of nothing? I am getting no error messages. I have opened a dialogue with Jeremy of Firetrust Support #MOF-543021 so hopefully he may come up with an answer.

You've answered just two of the four questions raised. ;)

Sorry for not answering all your questions, getting a bit frustrated now...I have deleted MW Pro yet again and reinstalled it with my security turned off..no difference. As for the version, how the hell do I find that out, I only bought the blooming program yesterday so I ought to have the latest version don't you think.

Both the V6 and the V7 are the latest versions of two different iterations - now, don't you think you could've clicked my links to find out (especially since you've posted at the V6 forums instead of the V7 forums) :?:

Sorry you found my frustration irritating, as you are working under the name Trustfire I presumed wrongly as it happens that you were part of the company. I am a female novice and hoped I would be able to get answers to my problem here. Wrong again. I will move on.

You can always use the version details from the MWP that's working fine on your primary computer:--

For MWP V7:
{At the top-right-hand-side} Help >>----> About

For MWP V6:--
{At the top-left-hand-side} Help >>----> About

The V6 and V7 are radically different from each other - without an accurate diagnosis, it would be akin to performing a surgery on the wrong patient . . . . . . . by the right panel of Doctors. :devil

OK, great - let's get it working!!! :thumbsup

01.) Please navigate to C:\Users\YourUserName\AppData\Roaming\Firetrust\MailWasher

02.) Right click GeneralSettings.xml to open with Notepad and then rename and save the following 3 entries highlighted in red (at lines # 16, 17 and 18):--
  • Change
    <MinimiseToTaskbar>False</MinimiseToTaskbar>
    to
    <MinimiseToTaskbar>True</MinimiseToTaskbar>

    Change
    <MinimiseOnClose>True</MinimiseOnClose>
    to
    <MinimiseOnClose>False</MinimiseOnClose>

    Change
    <StartMinimised>True</StartMinimised>
    to
    <StartMinimised>False</StartMinimised>

    Don't forget to 'Save' the GeneralSettings.xml after you're done renaming the above 3 lines.
Now, try running your MWP. :thumbsup

Well first off I only got to 'roaming' because 'firetrust' was not there. But the partial good news is that I had an answer from firetrust support and they suggested that I may have a problem with my .net 4...didn't know I had one...and to run a repair job. I did this quite easily and MW Pro now opens, the difficulty is that it opens in the wrong resolution and then shuts down so one step forward and two back.

Ah, the Firetrust directory only just gets created after the first MWP run — which, in our case just didn't happen.

If I were you, I'd use an external medium such as a flash-drive or HDD to simply copy the entire directory from the following location of the working PC onto the same location at the PC that's not working. :thumbsup

Code: Select all

C:\Users\YourUserName\AppData\Roaming\Firetrust\
MailWasher Pro (βeta) | Windows 11 Enterprise LTSC (22H2) | The Bat! Professional (βeta) | Windows 10 Firewall Control (βeta) | ESET Endpoint Antivirus (βeta) | nVIDIA GeForce (GTX 1060) | WebView2 Runtime (118.0.2088.61) | .NET Framework (4.8.1)
