Lockup on Startup

Fri Apr 25, 2014 3:41 am

My mwp v6.5.3 has been working perfectly for years and
recently has been non-responding and/or locking up on
startup. I'm running windows 7 64bit and now have updated
to v6.5.4 and still have the same problem. I renamed the
app directory to MailWasherPro_BackUp and the program
recreated the correct directory and all my data installed
correctly except for the Recycle Bin. I did notice that in
the renamed directory there where about 20 mwLog
entries and over 600 SocketLog entries. Are these entries
a problem? Can I just delete the old directory? Lastly how
did the program propagate my data when the old directory
had been renamed?

Thanks in Advance

Firstly, you can go back to using the old application folder (backup) which you had renamed.

Secondly, I suggest making manual exclusions in your security system for the following MWP executable:--
  • C:\Program Files (x86)\Firetrust\MailWasher Pro\MailWasher.exe
Finally, try configuring your MWP for the following 3 settings:--
  • 6.5.4_Configuration.png

Thanks for the quick response. MWP now operating at warp speed.
Can I delete those mwLog and SocketLog entries? Any other files
I can safely erase? Why didn't I just use the newly created file
rather than going back to the original.

Thanks Again!

Yes, you may delete those - please don't delete any other files (I'd suggest backing up this directory manually, periodically - backup can be as simple as archiving it with your favorite Archiver, I use WinRAR.) ;)

Thanks for also reporting back - glad your issue is resolved. :thumbsup

MWP keeps generating multiple mwLog and SocketLog entries.
Is this normal? SocketLog already at 4600 in only 4 days. I have
8 active email accounts and access every 10 minutes. Will these
entries archive or be deleted after some period of time?

Those files would need to be deleted manually - I use CCleaner with Custom rules for MWP entries. ;)

My MWP has started to act up again. Would there be any
harm to just rename the app file and just operate on the
newly generated folder? Would I be losing any important
information?

There's no harm in renaming your application folder (backup) — you would lose your MWP training status, the Friends List and Blacklist.
