What he means is that if you go to "Help" on the top tool bar, then choose "About" from the pulldown menu, a popup window comes up. At the bottom, under the checkbox about allowing extended logging, is a highlighted link that goes to a file folder on your computer. If you open that, you will see a bunch of files. The one called "blacklist.txt" has your friends list as well as your blacklist, and the one called "filters.txt" has your filters. Just copy those files, open the similar link in the "about" popup in your new computer's version of MWP, and save them into that folder, overwriting the blank ones that are already there.

BE SURE TO CLOSE MWP BEFORE YOU DO THIS!! Otherwise, when it closes down, it will erase the files. So the steps are
open MWP
find the link to your data folder
open the data folder
close MWP
paste in the two files
reopen MWP and all should be there

I'll post a backup and restore utility program when I have it finished. Should be another couple of hours when I'm in the office.

As listed
http://www.scamchecker.org/personal/bum ... rproxp.zip

It is very basic so far, but has a BackUp button, which you push.....copies necessary contents to C:\MWP_backup... move this folder across to the new machine in the same place, run the same program, push the Restore button.

Supports XP, Vista and probably Win2K.

Will try to improve further over time.

This is all fine, except that my email accounts data is not transferred - and my list is long. I'd rather not type all that in manually. Am I missing something?

I'm going from Windows 2000 to Vista, if this helps.

I've done the manual transfer and also the .exe from above. Same result: black and friends lists are transferred, but not the email accounts.

?

Hi all,

To backup MailWasher Pro completely, you have an excellent software of backup which you can download starting from Firetrust, then to select "Products => Partner Products" and to select Eazy Backup, you transfer the file generated on your new computer.

You install MailWasher Pro and Eazy Backup on your new computer, it does not remain you any more that to restore your file generated and you will find same MailWasher Pro that you had on your old computer.

Cheers,

Gastrad.

mmm....it should all be the same, however I don't have access to a Win2K machine, I'll set one up today and try it out.

As Gastrad says too, if you are looking for a backup program, which can do many programs, incremental and scheduled backups etc...then EZBackup is a good program, plus it it recognises MailWasher and so will be sure to get all the MailWasher information.

If you were getting an error during the backup process, I have fixed that problem.
