Spamcop problem

Thu Sep 18, 2008 10:11 pm

Hi
Thanks for a great product, been with it since the early icq days.

my problem is with auto reporting to spamcop.
Error message
(the SMTP server can not or will not send messages from
<email@myaccont.org@mail.myaccount.org>

the problem occurred while trying to send the email to <edited out>)

Another question or idea can you have the spamcop tick box filled in automatically or 'select all' I am getting a lot of spam.

thanks for any help

Try setting your account's e-mail address in the outgoing mail tab of each account to get the spamcop reports to go out.

Auto setting the spamcop box is something that would be a violation of the spamcop submission guidelines but there are easy ways for you to speed up the operation. Easy method is to selevt the block of messages (click, shift-click) and then click the spamcop button to mark them all at once.

Hi
Thanks for the reply...the second one worked, I do check everyone and I do not bounce them....but it is easier your way than trying to read and click at the same time.

I set the mail settings in outgoing mail and it didn't work. Same error message.

any ideas

thanks

Well we could try my pattented "my smpt server barfs" fix. :-)

Sign up for a free Gmail account and use their secure SMTP server for submitting spam.

Set the options, including the advanced ones.

Use Authentication: Yes
Username and password same as your incoming gmail account.
Outgoing Mail (SMTP) Server - requires TLS: smtp.gmail.com
Use STARTTLS: Yes (some clients call this SSL)
Port: 465 or 587

I use this on a near daily basis with no problems. If you have these settings in MW and your virus program or firewall isn't blocking the message it should be working.
