Update to 6.3 will not allow Outlook 2003 to open

Our Update to 6.3 will not allow Outlook 2003 to open. I uninstalled 6.3 and went back to 6.1. Then I did a RESTORE to our PC with XP Pro to a time earlier in the day. Now everything is working again.

It was the only change or program we changed and it happened immediately after installing 6.3.

By "will not allow" do you mean, MailWasher would not open Outlook, or would Outlook not open at all even through regular shortcuts ?

Through the regular shortcut on the screen. I installed 6.3, immediately the shortcut for Outlook 2003 would not open. I went back to 6.1 and it opens either way just fine, through MW or by itself.

There must be something else at play here, MailWasher has zero interaction with Outlook, even when it opens Outlook it does so using a standard Windows call.

I haven't heard of this happening for anyone else either, but will wait a while in case more feedback is coming

I received this email this morning. I responded immediately that it was already set to Outlook as our email agent.

I just had a quick check with my colleagues and there are a few other customers with a similar problem.

Solution:

* Windows XP/2000/ME/98

Open Internet Explorer >> Click on Tools >> Internet Options >> then select the Programs tab. Select your default email client in the Email field.

* Windows Vista

You can access the Default Programs applet in Windows Vista from Internet Explorer: go under Tools > Options, and the Internet Options dialog will open; click on the Programs tab, and click the Set Programs button. This will launch Windows Vista's Default Programs window: click on the link which reads "Set your default programs". Click the e-mail program you'd like to use, and then click OK.

* MailWasher Pro

To change which email program MailWasher Pro opens, from the MailWasher Pro menu select Tools > General Options and next to Launch email application after processing, click Specify. Use the drop down selection box to select which email program you want to have open, or alternatively, manually browse to the location of the program you want to have opened.

I reset everything including the Program under the Tools heading and everything seems to be working now.

Outlook 2003 opens through MW and on its own now.
