Missing mail & private domain

I use a private domain (xxx.com.au) and my email address is yyy@xxx.com.au. My ISP is with Bigpond. I did not expect the recent change "Australian ISP Bigpond.com recently switched to using Outlook.com" to affect me however my email has become unreliable in the last month. This affects both Mailwasher & Mozilla Thunderbird (equally). Some incoming mail never arrives, despite repeated test transmission. Some outgoing is the same. The other sender/receivers are commercial organisations. Some mail is NOT arriving in a spam folder, just not arriving. No error message. In every case, the email can be sent from or received by a gmail account. Has anyone had a similar problem? Is it possible to track an outgoing email to see if a problem can be detected?

To update: I also get this error message when trying to send emails. The outgoing mail appears to be transmitting OK. At about the time I expect it to be completed I get the following message-

" An error occurred while sending mail. The mail server responded: rsj14.rhostjh.com Service not available - SIGTERM or SIGINT received - closing connection.. Please check the message and try again"
SIGTERM and SIGINT are unix termination commands. I thought rhostjh.com may be some kind of hack but maybe not?? I can not find any problems with it with a quick search. Re-sending the failed transmission usually works. This may be some kind of failure due to email settings but I do not know where to start.

1. For incoming and outgoing mail problems, check the DNS settings for your private domain at http://www.intodns.com/ Fix any problems that it shows.

2. For outgoing mail problems, check the servers that actually send your mail at some of the DNS blacklist checkers like http://mxtoolbox.com/blacklists.aspx or http://www.blacklistalert.org/ You can find the IP addresses for the servers that actually send your email if you send yourself something (preferably to your Gmail or similar address) and then look at the headers. Note that mail may be sent through more than one server, depending upon how your hosting provider has set things up.

You'll need to contact your hosting provider to fix any problems you find here.
