I have had Benign for many years and have just bought a new computer. I have loaded Benign but when I attempt to apply the settings I get the following message: "Exception supplying hosts file changes: Cannot create file C:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\HOSTS"

Think from memory you have check the properties of the 'Hosts' folder/file and you will find it is set to 'Read Only'. Untick >Apply>OK and try again.

You are really testing my memory as I have not done this for years. I will try and find the file I kept for reference and confirm.
