I was thinking about setting up ranks alongside the volume of posts. Once you post xx time your rank chnages etc...
I don't really get into themed ranks though, nothing military, nothing serious, in fact it would be better if people felt more offended by their rank and therefore posted more to move up in the world
Thoughts ? Complaints ?

Being a fan of Spongebob too, I do like Super Weenie and Weenie.
I suppose a military theme might work, but be something like
Private Parts
Corporal Punishment
Sergeant Bilko
Captain Morgan
Major PITA
General Error

That's good. I'd say that every site owner needs one to stay grounded.

Why
What benefit does it hold - prestige

Nothing says success like a fancy forum rank. Imagine people being able to place on their resume that they've attained the rank of "Village Idiot", on a second rate forum. They'll be climbing the corporate ladder in no time.
As with any online community though, a post count may not mean much to some folk, so I think there is inherent benefits in providing at least some other measure in gauging a persons involvement in that community, so long as the ranks make sense.
I'll probably start out with some basics, and we can always tweak from there.

Judging by how many people I ban from making comments on the Firetrust blog I've discovered I have a perverted joy in banning folk. I'll probably need to tone it down here though

Hey Pieter! It's good to hear from you. It's been a while.
Just for the record, there's no "ex" in my heritage.
