Spam using my own email address

I have started getting spam messages which incorporate my own email address, preceded by various names. For example,
the sender is shown as "Sue <my email address>". The name shown is different with each spam. I cannot put these messages on my mailwasher blacklist because I then block my own genuine incoming emails. Any ideas? I feel very frustrated at this devious stuff.

Use two filters, one to protect your good messages from your account and a second to delete the forged ones, filter based on the from line for the least hassle.

Thanks for the suggestion. I'm not technically literate. How do I set up the two filters?
I feel a bit dumb but your help would be appreciated.
Summertime :)

Thank you for the website details. I have had a look but can't see how to block the spam supposedly being sent from my own email address. I like the filter idea. Can you give me more info on how to do it. I have been to the filters and tried to add something which would work but not sure of the appropriate commands.
Thanks for your patience.

Hi Summertime,

When you send an e-mail, what is the display name? For example, all my e-mails show "Ebo Ericsson <[email protected]>" in the "from" field (without quotes). In this case, "Ebo Ericsson" is the display name.

To have MailWasher Pro distinguish genuine messages from spoofs, you will follow these steps to create two filters:

- Open MailWasher Pro to display the panel.
- Click "Settings."
- Click "My Filters" in the left column, and then click the "Add" button.
- Duplicate what I have done here to create a filter that identifies genuine e-mail you have sent to yourself. Click "OK" when finished.
- Click the "Add" button again.
- Duplicate what I have done here to create another filter that identifies e-mail which spoofs your e-mail address. As soon as you click on the "Automatically (without notification)" radio button, a warning box will pop up. Read it to understand what you are telling MWP to do, then click "Yes" to confirm. Click "OK" when finished.
- Click "OK" to close settings.

Thanks for that advice stan_qaz and ebocious, I've been wondering how to do that for a long time. Maybe now I'll be able to stop my MailWasher Pro Summary always showing as blacklisted :thumbsup

The location that held the exact directions for this filter has deleted your information
could you please post that info again, and hopefully on the forum site
Thanks

Hi all,

Sorry, I should have hosted the images on Shareapic instead of MediaFire. Click here to see them again.
