Registry deletion

Fri Apr 23, 2010 1:32 am

During an extremely dark period of my existence last week
I deleted some registry. :facepalm Now I realize what a stupid action it was!

Has anyone any considered thoughts on the possiblities of resurrection.

The key is to have made a backup before you delete something. Manual, system restore point or an automated backup program all are options.

I export my MW data from the registry to a text file after every major change so I don't have to re-enter all the account info. I also backup the blacklist-friends file, filters and the training directory. Makes recovery of a corrupted MW installation from a windows crash a couple minute operation.
I am not a Firetrust employee just a MW user.

Will the machine boot ? ....if so then a System Restore point would do this. If that's disabled, then no, I'd say there's no way to get it back properly.

Do you recall what you deleted from the Registry ?

The cause of the deep dark pit that I was wallowing in,was that my System Restore
had completely died, therefore dire things were done without thought.now I need some files that are
in the nether regions.

Thanks for your comments.
