Anti Virus software

Hi

Can someone suggest a good ani virus program , I am currently running ca anti virus and it is conflicting with maiwasher pro 2010/2011.
I amd thinking of changing from ca as there support is hopeless

If you were just looking for a base AntiVirus program, I would certainly take a look at Microsoft Security Essentials http://www.microsoft.com/security_essentials/
Avira PE would be another http://www.avira.com/en/avira-free-antivirus


There's also a good two part article here splitting the two. I've dealt with Donna Buenaventura (the author) in the past and would certainly trust her opinion, probably over my own

Many thanks for your reply , have installed the Microsoft version.Have read a lot of good reviews about it Only worry is It seems to rely on windows firewall.
But it is much cheaper than the overpriced computer associate package that I have been using
Mailwasher seems to be behaving itself now

You could certainly couple in another standalone Firewall, but so far in my experience I find the Windows Firewall to be sufficient for needs. It took a lot of criticisms early because it only monitored inbound activity, which is still does by default. But you can tell it to block outbound, however if I recall if you do this you must create manual rules to allow programs, and it doesn't have a very nice wizard to do this easily for you.
