Now that I've reformatted to Vista 64bit it won't recognise disks in my damn DVD writer. Insert a disk and it will say things like '0 bytes free of 139MB'. try to explore the disk though and suddenly it tries to format the disk thinking it's blank.
Disks are all fine, drive worked perfectly under Vista 32bit.

You might look to see if you have the latest firmware on your DVD, I've had to update a couple to fix strange bugs.
I am not a Firetrust employee just a MW user.

Re: 64bit Vista not recognising disks
Yeah I downloaded the LiveUpdate software it mentions on the Drive, so that was all up to date.
Today has been shite. My aim, install Windows 2008 Server in a 64bit Virtual Machine, then install Exchange Server 2007 onto the Virtual Machine for testing with MW Server.
Something about my machine being 64bit Dual processor, which is also important.
OK, first things first, reformat my machine from 32 to 64 bit. Done, took half a day including software, and if you recall I was gloating about using IMAP and how all my emails are easily moved to another machine. Well, not if you forget your email password. Left it for the day (this was Tuesday), had a day off yesterday, then back in the office.
Two hours later after being in today, I manage to figure out the weird ass email password....I always knew all the characters, just not the right order. It looks like 87TjmT620llLiiI
OK great, setup virtual machine. Nope, see problem above, though I didn't realise my whole CD drive was weirding, so spent about an hour tinking in VMWare trying to get it right. Realise it's my drive, get that fixed moving on....
Nope not enough space, need 9GB for Server install, only set aside 8 in VM setup.
Try again, this time checking with guys about what they need to install on it, works out need about 30GB.
Try again, nope not enough space for a 30GB Virtual HDD.....odd considering it's a 200GB HDD
Realise 4 other VMs are taking up 40GB each
Delete those try again.
Success.
Install Exchange 2007, nope, CD key doesn't work. We have a MS subscription, but all the serials they print don't say what product they are for, and it looks like the Exchange 2007 disk has somehow moved into a CD sleeve for another program, so the code won't work at all.
I must have setup virtual machines, had to delete, set them up again about 48000 times in the last few days. And with no exaggeration I think I've rebooted about 28,650,000 times in those same few days.
I am now leaving, tomorrow is another day off...public holiday, something about the natives....all I care about is that it's pretty much beer o'clock now and I forget all about M$, Virtual Machines, and email passwords

No wonder you can't get anything done ... what with all those days off.
Anyway that's quite the tale of woe ... but then again presumably you're still getting paid for your troubles ... plus it's now beer o'clock.

Yesterday was last minute holiday, my sister is over from Yankee land. But yes, yes I do take a lot of days
So much for beer o'clock though, still have a Milo in front of me, waiting on the Doris to finish getting sorted

I bought some "special" CD writing pens and I write the CD keys on the CDs as well as the service tag for the computer they came with, I really hate that stupid key thing.
BTW which of the six versions of Windows 7 are you guys going to be supporting? :-)

If you count Windows 7 Home Basic for 'emerging markets', then the 32 and 64 bit versions for everything except Windows 7 Starter. That would technically make 13 versions too

All the CDs are from the MSDN Subscription, so there's a couple of hundred, am sure I'll get it figured out though.stan_qaz wrote:I bought some "special" CD writing pens and I write the CD keys on the CDs as well as the service tag for the computer they came with, I really hate that stupid key thing.
