Hey Tim, good to see you
I've added you into the beta group again, the beta topics are right down the bottom of the forum list.

We (Firetrust) did speak briefly about CastleCops and the possibility of putting ourselves forward, but we are just too small to resource a site like that. We've lost our in house PHP developer/database administrator too, so even offering taking on the smaller services like PIRT are out of our league right now.

I've been meaning to change the link to the wayback machine but I've been too busy with seasonal sillyness.

Looks like you got into the beta group already, I'm hoping to get time tomorrow or Monday to dig into the latest new toy and give it a thrashing. :-)
I am not a Firetrust employee just a MW user.

Thanks, RD. Good to see you too. I'm downloading the beta now.

I don't even remember where I heard it, but someone told me the staff was taking over. I realize taking over the whole site would be quite a project. But even if the forums were locked, at least the information would still be there. I think the fact they closed it completely is what shocked me most.

Yup, thanks. I just got a new Vista machine so I'm playing with all sorts of new toys. My brother got me a nVidia GeForce GTX 260 video card and I built a machine around it. This sucker is fast. :D

I think part of the hang up was legal issues. The site actually had to have liability insurance.

Ideally, there would have been a non-profit corporation created with staff members forming the board of directors and a few paid people to make sure the grunt work maintenance is done and to raise money, pay bills, etc., but they were waiting for this established nonprofit to take over, so they never started that process themselves.

That's what I heard a few months ago, that it would "stay in the family", so to speak. I'm still trying to assess what this really means. The PIRT e-mail address is apparently still working according to CentralOps.net, but where does it go? As far as I know, that service was unique to CC. There are other HijackThis forums, but I don't know of any PIRT/SIRT/MIRT sites. I believe they developed that software, but I don't know if they shared it, or are willing to. It would be a tragic loss if those services can't be restarted, and restarted soon.

I've read a few forums, and the general reaction I've seen has been shock. I haven't seen much other activity, but what can we do? I asked Patermann (the guy that posted the CC Folding stats on the wiki) to post them in our forum for now, but I'm concerned about people just finding other alternatives. It isn't going to take long, and once they're gone, they're gone. << poet, sorry. ;)

There is still a lot of our Mailwasher Wiki available on the Wayback Machine. I will keep searching for as many bits and pieces as can be found. Once I download all of the linked pages I will group them together into a sub-domain on my website, for your retrieval.

Be sure to allow JavaScript on the archive website, or most links will appear dead.

trobbins probably has everything from the wayback machine, but converting it from html back to media wiki is what is taking time. You should contact him to avoid duplicating effort.

Also, most of the images are missing. If anyone contributed the originals, they would be helpful.
