It ended up being very quiet, I think the anxiety of the last couple of weeks made it hard to just cut loose

Some before and after quake shots here https://picasaweb.google.com/1180792228 ... directlink#
And some interesting reading here about the quake, in particular the Peak ground Acceleration which helps understand some of the devastation.

Some quiet, reflective time can be just what you need after an event like you've just gone through.rusticdog wrote:It ended up being very quiet, I think the anxiety of the last couple of weeks made it hard to just cut loose

I agree with Al. Quiet is good after what you all went through.rusticdog wrote:It ended up being very quiet, I think the anxiety of the last couple of weeks made it hard to just cut loose

Christchurch is a beautiful city that I know and love well and I have spent many happy days there with friends, on holiday. The locals were always wam and friendly and I hope that when this tragedy is behind them, Cantabrians will retain their friendly and positive outlook despite the long rebuilding road ahead. Let's hope the city re-emerges, as Napier did, bigger and better than before but retaining all the things that made it such a lovely town in the first place.

- Well, that's at least comprehensible, if not even normal. I don't know, how some folks can make jokes in this context. Hopefully you and your family and friends are fine.

Things are heading back into some semblance of normality. It's obviously not the same normal we knew, but more people are back to work, some schools have reopened, power back for something like 96% of the city, cordons around the central business district are being reduced in size....

Yeap, family are fine, unfortunately it seems one of the staff had a friend in the CTV building.B_big! wrote:rusticdog wrote:It ended up being very quiet, I think the anxiety of the last couple of weeks made it hard to just cut loose

120 liters of beer is about what I'd need after an earthquake, you might want to add a second bin with clothes and food! :-)

Maybe though I will start home-brewing beer though....just in case
Re: Another earthquake.
The emergency kit does contain 2 'I'm OK' beers...no cigars yet, but I will add those. As we've learnt now, some small 'treat' items are actually pretty good for the mindset.stan_qaz wrote:120 liters of beer is about what I'd need after an earthquake, you might want to add a second bin with clothes and food! :-)

Re: Another earthquake.
I have my doubts that beer would have adequate content of numbing solution. Heavier concentration called for. Maybe 190 proof "grain" would help. Besides beer only gets rented for such a short time that it necessitates too frequent relief needs in an otherwise unsafe environment.
