First user here.
I installed Mail Washer Enterprise I thought all was working. I installed and tested remotely from my home. But I cannot send mail from any work station in the local subnet where the mail server is installed. I am using mail Enable Professional version 6.85.
Thanks
Gene

Hi Gene
When you send email, can you make sure it's authenticated with a username and password.

Re: Mail Washer Enterprise Cannot send in local subnet
This was all working before installing mailwasher. The mail server would reject mail that is not from a valid user. I can also check mail and can receive mail. But cannot send mail.

Re: Mail Washer Enterprise Cannot send in local subnet
One more thought the error is that it cannot connect to the mail server to send ,ail. If you telnet to it connects the disconnects very quickly. This is type of thing you would see if the firewall was block it. I turned off the firewall to test it and that did not help.

Re: Mail Washer Enterprise Cannot send in local subnet
It does sound like an authenticated SMTP problem, but I'll get some feedback from other colleagues and reply back. The connection is dropped after 5 seconds if it cannot connect, this is to avoid connections being held and holding up resources.

Ok, you will need to add in plain authentication to your email clients when sending otherwise MWES will think it's an open relay. So in your email client settings, make sure when sending SMTP authentication is turned on.

Re: Mail Washer Enterprise Cannot send in local subnet
Ok It turns out it is deeper than the just the local subnet. No one can send mail randomly. It acts as though the mail washer is swamped randomly and not able to handle all the requests. Is there a setting on it to bump up the number of threads it uses? I doubled the amount of threads on the mail server from 100 to 200. I will have to remove this I a getting way to many complaints. It washes the spam so well but.

Re: Mail Washer Enterprise Cannot send in local subnet
Ok, what specs is your server? MWES is designed to take advantage of as much CPU power and ram as you can give it, so I've give it a quad core and 8GB ram minimum, but it all depends on your traffic as well. Also, MWES will throttle the email it sends to the mail server if the mail server cannot keep up with the amount of email sent to it.
You mention that people cannot send mail randomly, but MWES is only handling the incoming email, not the outgoing email.

Maybe a config issue?
