No Qmail support?

My old OS MW server broke the other day (the MPD service wouldn’t start or connect?) so I uninstalled this and then reinstalled it. But it wouldn’t install as the MPD service still wouldn’t start. I do have a license already so want to stick with MW.

Anyway I see that you have changed to MW server Enterprise and that’s cool – but I don’t see support for QMail anywhere and my server only uses qmail – no sendmail.

What can I do to sort the REAMS of spam I get every day.

Hi Mike, I'd already replied via email but its not good to have unanswered posts in the forum :?

The new version uses the same sendmail milter as the old version so it should in theory work although we haven’t formally tested it with qmail at this stage. So you’re welcome to try it and it can use the same firstalert license information as it’s license key.

Ok I have tried uninstalling everything and reinstalling – it doesn’t work it still hangs when trying to start MPD – even with the installer!

I don’t understand how I would use the sendmail with QMail? Do you have some instructions as the etc/sendmail doesn’t even exist!

Hi Mike,

Current Mail Washer Enterprise do not support Qmail. It is based on Sendmail Milter and is tested on Sendmail & Postfix.
I don't think Qmail use Sendmail Milter.

Cheers

So what about the FA subscription that we have paid for then?

Does this just fall away?

No, we're testing a version to work with QMail at the moment. Shouldn't be too far away, a few weeks if all goes well.

Hi Nick,

Sorry to post this here but I cant register on the old site?

On another of my servers running the old MWS I keep getting the following error on logon, 'MailWasher Server 2.1.9 | Tue Apr 21 14:43:03 2009 +0200: Unable to connect to the FirstAlert! service: Socket closed normally'

Also I note that there is no spam being filtered - all coming through to the mailboxes but I am getting complaints that real email is not being delivered?

Can you assist?

I might have to get back to you on this one when the developers get in. You don't need to register on the old forum site http://oss.firetrust.com/phpBB2/index.php and you can still search.

Hi

What's your FirstAlert! Customer ID? Also outbound port 4051 should not be firewalled, is this the case?

Thanks
Nick

Customer ID is 65947955. No the firewall is not blocked - nothing has changed.

Now - email accounts on this server seem to have stopped working. I have tested sending and receiving from Webmail and cannot seem to receive or send anything??

Also the applications that send and receive email directly via the SMTP server seem to have stopped working as well. A few days ago they were taking hours and even a day to be delivered?

Is there a link - perhaps the subscription has now expired and its broken email?

it had expired - on the 21st April, so a few days ago. I've given you another month and then you'll get a renewal email a week before it expires.

I can't see how the subscription expiring could have affected anything though, it only turns off FirstAlert. But let me know how it's working now.

Nick

WEIRD!

As soon as i restarted the processes and it reconnected itself all email started sending and receiving again peerfectly.

Thanks for the extension - will organise a renewal with the guys that hold the contract.

Cheers for now.
Mike

I'm in the same boat, I want to upgrade to MailWasher Enterprise Server but I can't without QMail support. Add one more to the list for QMail support.
