smtp authentication

Well, it's up and running, but I'm not sure if it's doing what it should.

smtp authentication

Mon Jul 20, 2009 3:37 pm

I have exchange running for my personal domains. My users use POP3 and SMTP. I allow relay when users authenticate. I had to change everyone over to port 26 and pass it in the firewall. Any suggestions or any plans to allow authentication via ldap?

Hi,

Which MWES version you are using? Is it a proxy or conduit?

I don't see any problems if users are using SMTP Auth. MWES will allow it. Why do you need to move users to port 26?

it's (Version 2.7 {W}). The install documents say to change the exchange port to 26.

Do you see any problems in sending/receiving emails? MWES is processing emails & catching SPAM?

If answers to above are positive then you didn't mess up :D

MWES is running as proxy in front of exchange. It won't do any thing else except filtering SPAM. For users it is transparent. They don't have to change SMTP ports.

MWES talks to exchange on port 26 locally. You don't have to open port 26 in firewall if both applications are running on the same box.

Cheers

My sister was the whiner. She kept getting a messages server terminated the connection. I just did some testing locally and you are right. It's works. I'll do some more testing from outside and see what happens.
