High Priority Error

Sat Dec 14, 2019 6:09 am

I'm getting this error in the Event Logs every time I check for new mail, but it doesn't identify how to resolve it?

Description: An unknown error has occurred. MailWasher is unable to determine the cause of this error.

Can you send me some logs.

If you go Help >> Send Support Logs >> enter a brief note like 'as per forum' >> in the Ticket Number field enter chris >> Send Logs >> reply back here once sent, so I can check they arrived OK.

What it looks like, is that there is a (probably spam) email, that is malformed. MailWasher has been unable to load all the message details fully, generating this error. Although usually an error like this would get hidden if that were true, unless the problem is preventing MailWasher from checking the account further.

I'm also getting this exact same error, and a bunch of emails that look like they have not been filtered (no colors)

Sorry for the delay.

There is definitely an issue with MailWasher trying to retrieve a message, but the logging is pretty poor beyond that.

I think the quick fix would be to set the account to use IMAP instead of POP. All you need to do is go Settings >> Accounts >> Incoming >> change to IMAP at the top >> click Advanced >> set how many days of messages you want to retrieve >> Save.

Beyond how many days of messages MailWasher will retrieve, using IMAP it will also by default load only Unread emails in the INBOX folder. Both those behaviours you can change also in the account settings.

As an aside, your mail server also supports SSL. Under Settings >> Accounts >> Incoming >> Advanced >> you can set the option to use SSL. It won't make any difference to you, just means your password is sent across the internet encrypted, rather than in plain text as it is currently.

Cheers

I just got a beta that resolves some issues around certain messages
Can you try this version and let us know how it goes. It'll install fine over the top.
