Why is it so hard to get Mailwasher Free?

I understand Firetrust wants to make money. But they advertise a free version of MailWasher all over the place, and then make it impossible to get. I go to their website and download the free version, the file name is "mailwasher_pro_setup_7_12_29_free.exe". I try to install it, and it installs Mailwasher Pro, and asks me for money. I go to www.mailwasher.net, and on the righ hand side of the page there is the word "Support". I put my cursor on it, and it gives me a drop down menu with three choices, Mailwasher Free, Mailwasher Pro, and Mailwasher Server. I choose Mailwasher free, and big surprise, it takes me to the Mailwasher Pro support page. I've spent hours strying to get Mailwasher Free for my wife's computer, and I've come to the conclusion that Firetrust has made this impossible. Can someone prove me wrong? Why is the company doing this? I've never had this problem before.

Will check that out, sounds like the download is wrong, in the interim here is MW Free 7.12.38 that we'll be releasing soon.
You'll need to uninstall MW Pro first and answer No to keeping data files.

Thanks, but even the link you provided says it is Mailwasher Pro....Free. Just like the others. I'm betting I will install it, and it will install Pro, not Free, and try to charge me, like the others.

Yep, just as I thought. I installed it, and it immediately came up with "Your 1 year subscription has expired 1037 days ago. Please renew your subscription to continue using our service". I did have a subscription years ago, free through Giveaway of the Day, which ran out. Now I can't install just the free version.

On top of that, I can get Mailwasher running, it goes through all the emails, but when it is done the "Wash Mail" button is blanked out, so I can't press it, and can't wash my mail. I'm guessing this is a ploy to make me pay money to use this program? Not cool, I use this on a different computer with no problems.

I'm fed up, been working on this for a week, no help, can't google any help, seems like I'm the only person in the world with this problem, and I can't get help to fix it. I'm guessing I won't get any more responses out here.

Ah, if there was a subscription, then go into Help >> Common Files >> delete the file key.file >> restart MailWasher. That should hopefully bring back MW Free.

So wait a minute, you have a known problem, and a solution that no one would ever be able to figure out without going through what I just went through, and instead of fixing it (like, a button that would do this for you) you ignore it and make your customers lose their minds trying to fix it themselves. Good job! Screw that, I uninstalled it, will find something from a company who isn't trying to force their customers into paying for a free program. BTW, if you need someone to help run your company (and trust me, you do) who can fix stupid ittle things like this, give me a call, I'll have you up and running like clockwork in a week. After some mass firings.
