Hello, I have two hotmailaccounts. One of them is no longer working at mailwasher 7.12.38. I tried most of the answers given here before. I cannot solve it though.
My settings are:
Server POP: outlook.office365.com
Port: 995
Security: SSL
Server SMTP: smtp.office365.com
Port: 587
Security: TLS
BTW For incoming I can only mark one option SSL security, no option for TLS. At outgoing only None, SSL, TLS, CRAM MD5 and NTLM, no STARTTLS (hotmail says SSL/TLS and STARTTLS)
The other account works fine. I tried the exact same settings for the faulty account but it comes back with Failed to connect with server.
I allowed pop mail in my hotmail settings but still no succes. Appreciate help with this.

Re: Hotmail account server problems
Sounds like the settings are correct. Try removing the account from MailWasher >> restart the program >> add the account back in.

Re: Hotmail account server problems
Maybe try changing your password??
If you have non-alphanumeric characters in the password, they may be causing the problems. Since one account is working okay, that should indicate which non-alphanumeric characters can be used.

Re: Hotmail account server problems
Also try double checking here https://outlook.live.com/mail/0/options ... ts/popImap that POP is enabled to access the account.

Thank you the password only consists of regular letters. I checked the pop access for other apps which was on already. Tried the IMAP settings same failure to connect.

Re: Hotmail account server problems
OK, try sending me some logs.
To do that go Help >> Send Support Logs >> enter a brief note like 'as per forum' >> Send Logs >> also be sure the sending account at the bottom left is the Hotmail or other account that is able to logon all OK.
Reply back here once sent, so I can check they arrived all OK.

Re: Hotmail account server problems
Great thanks.
The error MailWasher is getting back from the server is
S: -ERR Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password.
So do be certain the username and password you are using in MailWasher is the right one.
You could also try using pop3.live.com as the POP server address, rest of the settings stay the same. Your other account is using that address just fine.

Re: Hotmail account server problems
Thank you, I tried to login directly to pop3.live.com but it is not responding and points to a commercial pop3.live.com/owa. I changed the working hotmail settings to outlook.office365.com and it is working fine. My standard hotmail adress however comes up with cannot connect to server. If I login through outlook.com I can access both hotmail accounts. Since my standard hotmail is made a long time ago the password is just 6 letters, might that cause problems if third party want to login to the server?

For the pop3.live.com I wasn't clear, I meant to try using that as your server address in MailWasher under Settings >> Accounts >> Incoming. The account that works in MailWasher is using that server address.
Re: Hotmail account server problems
It shouldn't, but if changing the password for the problem account is a possiblilty, it's worth a shot.JohnBodar wrote: ↑Sat Oct 31, 2020 11:30 pmThank you, I tried to login directly to pop3.live.com but it is not responding and points to a commercial pop3.live.com/owa. Re: Hotmail account server problems
Well I did change the password and it brought a whole different view. Apparently I changed, at a certain point in the past, to two step verification. I tried to log on with my new password in mailwasher that did not work, server not responding, then i found this URL: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/acc ... f2979a7944
There is way to generate a password made for apps that do not support two way verification. I generated a password and applied it on mailwasher. And Yes connected to server. So thank you for helping me solve the problem, which in a way i would never suspect it would be. The other hotmail account does not has two step verification so it still was working fine.

Re: Hotmail account server problems
Oh right, I should have offered that possibility, but it didn't even occur to me. At least it's working now, and hopefully stored in the memory bank next time it happens to someone
