updating to v. 7.11.0
I received a notification that a new version was available, but didn't act at the time. I have downloaded 7.11.0 per your instructions in another thread (am running 7.2.0 and "check for update" showed it as up-to-date). How do I install the new version without losing the current settings, and how do I pay for it? Thank you.

The latest MailWasher is usually installed right on top of the existing copy — settings are always retained.isabellevt wrote:I received a notification that a new version was available, but didn't act at the time. Also if you go into Settings >> General >> Updates >> click the Go To Folder link >> delete the file updates.aiu >> that will fix the problem of MailWasher thinking it's up to date when a newer version is available.

Re: updating to v. 7.11.0
I have been having problems with Mailwasher Pro 6.5.4 (I use Windows 7 64 bit) lately, for the first time since the very first version, so I decided to try out the new 7.11.
I downloaded it from the Firetrust website so I could try it out before purchasing it. However, when I installed it it immediately told me "Trial Expired: Your 30 Day Trial Period has expired....." WHAT ??? I only downloaded it 5 minutes ago !
So what is the secret of how to test it for a few days ???

Odd. Try running the attached file, when you run the .REG (inside the ZIP) and answer Yes to import into Windows Registry.
That ought to give it a kick.

Also: If I purchase this version using the "1 Year" option, does that mean that it is going to expire and die on me after a year ? Or does the 1 year only apply to free updates ?

Thankyou rusticdog, that worked. It now shows "Your trial will expire in 30 days" at the bottom of my screen.
I also just found the answer to my question about 1 Year vs Lifetime:
1 Year: License to install on 3 computers. Includes 1 years use of all new versions, updates, real-time spam blocking and customer support for use with 3 computers. Current required renewal is US$24.95
Lifetime: License to install on 3 computers. Includes lifetime use of all new and future versions, updates, real-time spam blocking and customer support which Firetrust will provide

Also, for those that don't like the new icon which looks like a bar of soap, there are plenty more you can choose from using the thousands available in Windows own system dlls.
Right click on the icon on your desktop, click Properties and click on something like "Use a different icon" (I have the Swiss windows which is not in English.
In the address at the top, enter C:\Windows\System32\shell32.dll - if it shows just a list, scroll down that to shell32.dll.
You could also have a look at \moricons.dll and \imageres.dll (<- there's a nice blue one there which looks a bit like the old grey washing machine)

Here is a very old tutorial on changing the MailWasher Task Bar icon.Helvetica wrote:Also, for those that don't like the new icon which looks like a bar of soap, there are plenty more you can choose from using the thousands available in Windows own system dlls.

I also just noticed that you can change the bar of soap to the washing machine icon in Settings -> Display -> Tray Icon, but the desktop icon would remain the same. I like my blue and white circle.

The reason is that those 2 icons are unrelated to each other and reside in different sources.Helvetica wrote:I also just noticed that you can change the bar of soap to the washing machine icon in Settings -> Display -> Tray Icon, but the desktop icon would remain the same.
