Hello,
How does this effect Mailwasher Pro? I'm using Outlook 2007 as my client. I seem to remember you gave instructions on a work-a-round when Gmail did this more secure authentication. Do you have any instructions for this Microsoft issue?
Microsoft eMail:
The safety and security of your information is top priority for Microsoft. To help keep your account secure, Microsoft will no longer support the use of third-party email and calendar apps which ask you to sign in with only your Microsoft Account username and password. To keep you safe you will need to use a mail or calendar app which supports Microsoft’s modern authentication methods. If you do not act, your third-party email apps will no longer be able to access your Outlook.com, Hotmail or Live.com email address on September 16th.
What do you need to do?
If you are receiving this email, you are currently using an email or calendar app that uses a less secure authentication method to connect to your Outlook.com email account. You will need to upgrade your third-party mail and calendar app to a version which supports modern authentication methods.
Thank you

Re: Microsoft Outlook Update B4 Sept 16, 2024
Hello and thank you for the tip.
I clicked on my Mailwasher Outlook.com account and the OAUTH message was already waiting for me. I just authorized it and it appears to be working. I did receive a couple of messaged from Microsoft asking if I allowed Mailwasher to access my mail. Does that solve the problem with me still using Outlook 2007? Once mailwasher has my mail am I receiving my mail from the Microsoft servers after I "wash" the mail through Mailwasher?

Yes, sounds like you are all set now then, and yes, any other email program you use should work exactly as it has been....

Re: Microsoft Outlook Update B4 Sept 16, 2024 (UPDATE)
Hello,
Well my Outlook 2007 stopped receiving emails from the Outlook.com servers as Microsoft stated. My MailWasher can hit the Outlook.com server and allow me to delete spam though. But when washing mail, my Outlook 2007 errors out and won't pull the emails off the Microsoft servers because Outlook 2007 (and I think even up to Outlook 2016) do not support Oauth. I think I found a work-a-round though and let me know if you believe this will continue to work. I went into my Outlook.com email settings and simply forwarded all my Outlook.com email messages to a different account that Outlook 2007 still supports. In my case I have a Gmail account also and it works fine with MailWasher and Outlook 2007 can still hit the Gmail servers and I get my Outlook.com emails just fine through the Gmail account.
If you think this is a plan, then I hope it helps some other users that got locked out of their Microsoft emails (using a older email client that is not compatible with the Microsoft's new more secure email server settings) and want to keep their older, familiar email system intact.
Thanks
DAVE.
