MailWasher Pro Problems

Tue Nov 19, 2024 3:17 pm

Sometime overnight (Nov. 11/12), Mailwasher Pro stopped retrieving emails for processing, reporting an unknown error. The MailWasher 7 Forum is full of user complaints. The solution seems to be to roll back to the previous version (7.12.125). That has worked for me and others who have tried it. Check the box to keep your user settings and filters before uninstalling.

Firetrust had not yet commented on the debacle the last time I looked.

Have a great day.

Excellent, good to hear that worked, and yes, the current (7.15.10) version usually works fine, however let me know what account is failing ? (hotmail, yahoo earthlink etc etc?)

Also, if problems, send logs to support as we'll be able to see where the problem is from there usually.... (Help>>Send Support Logs in MWP)

It appears that MailWasher Pro users have encountered a significant issue with the latest update (likely a bug) that prevents email retrieval. Many users have reported this problem on the MailWasher 7 Forum :bs space waves

I updated to Mailwasher Pro version 7.15.19 last week, and Mailwasher is now crashing and closing out multiple times thoughout the day and night. I typically have the actual program open whenever I am using my computer, and it just randomly disappears from both the desktop and the system tray. This only started after I applied the update.

I am running Windows 11 Pro 24H2, build 26100.2605, with Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.26100.36.0.

Is anyone else having this problem?

Yes, I've had it disappear a couple of times with no reason showing or anything in the logs, seems to be when coming out of sleep for a long time for me.

The developer is off for a couple of days over Christmas so is on the list to look into.

In the meantime if it's too annoying, try the below after backing up first, then if no better, you can restore the backup:

----------
First, here's how to backup your MWPro settings:

Open MWPro, click File>>Export,
Click Browse to choose where to save the backup file,
Type a name for it (anything you like)
Click Save,
Then Export.
To restore in future, click File>>Import, locate the file you saved and click Import.
-----------

The below will reset MW, however you'll loose your recycle bin contents and training and blacklist and friendslist, and it'll take around 30 good and bad emails to begin to retrain, ensure you mark all emails as either good or spam to help MW learn faster....

In windows, go to Start, type run then in the ‘Open:’ box type (or copy / paste):

%AppData%\Firetrust\MailWasher

Click enter so it opens the Mailwasher folder.

(NOTE: you can move the files out of that folder for a secondary backup instead of deleting them if you wish)

Delete all files and folders in there EXCEPT for:

Accounts.xml
Filters.xml

- Restart your PC
- Then restart MWPro and give it time to reload and re-create the files and folder.

Note that the learning (green/pink emails) will take some time to work, so ensure you mark all emails as good or spam under the Classify column to speed this up.
