Mailwasher randomly popping up once in a while

Encountering a bit weird behaviour of Mailwasher (v7.11.0)

I may be busy with some other application, could be whilst browsing on Internet, could be when creating an email, could be whilst using Explorer (or, in my case, Directory Opus), whatever.

Then suddenly Mailwasher pops up and I have to minimize it again.
It doesn't do anything, it just pops up.

Mailwasher is just in the taskbar, in the background, I don't activate it.

p.s. it would be nice if an image could be inserted as a thumbnail, expanding to 100% when being clicked on, similarly to imgur (url link)

You ever use the CTRL + SHIFT + M hotkey ?

You could try changing that, if you click in the box, under Settings >> General >> Application >> you can either delete the shortcut using backspace >> Save. Or change it to something like the Pause/Break key which is never used.

No, I don't use that hotkey combination.
I always start Mailwasher from the Windows Start-menu and I am not aware of any other application using it.

OK, try disabling the hotkey then, just see if that makes this behaviour stop.

Sorry for the lllong delay, was busy/away and more or less forgot to follow up.
Anyway, the "Restore MailWasher Hotkey" is set to [None].
Mailwasher still pops up.

Sometimes this results in strange effects - for example (just now) : I was writing an email.
Whilst typing, MailWasher pops up and my typing resulted in actions within MailWasher...
(I don't know what I did, but the preview at the bottom was activated and displayed full size)

How odd.

If you go into Settings >> General >> Application >> what if you set MW to use the hotkey, but something that is never used day to day. Pause/Break is probably the best candidate.

Yes, it is odd indeed.
The hotkey, originally set there, I never used it. My hotkey usage is limited to just a couple and mostly involve PrntScrn.

BTW, the crashing has to do with .NET Runtime.

after the word 'runtime.' above, enter twice and MailWasher pops up again.

Funny eh ..

ah ... I think... I see it .. Mailwasher just showed up again and I see the 'Wash Mail' button at the top getting greyed out for a short while
(same as when I were to click on it)

Whilst writing this reply I waited a while, browsed here and there..etc.
Noticed, MW checks mail, the wash mail button greyed out and MailWasher comes to the front, party covering the browser.
That's it...

Maybe untag check periodically? Don't know though, think it is quite handy..

OK, first try running the .NET repair utility https://www.microsoft.com/en-nz/downloa ... x?id=30135

If that doesn't solve the issue, if you can send me some logs. If you go Help >> Send Support Logs >> enter a brief note like 'mw pops up' >> in the Ticket Number field enter chris >> Send Logs.

Unfortunately there's nothing in the logs that points to what might be happening. How frequent are these crashes in relation to the popup of MailWasher ?


I would update the graphics drivers next, and also look to run a System File Check https://support.microsoft.com/en-nz/hel ... ted-system

The crash happened only once. The pop-up is a regular thing and probably only when checking mail and not always.
Don't see anything special in ProcMon, except some BufferOverFlow entries whilst Mailwasher isn't doing anything.
Attachment is when MW is 'idle', i.e. not checking mail.

Ah well, forget it. Maybe one day I will do a total Windows re-install and this peculiar thing is solved :-)
