1st Problem
When Mailwasher 2010 is minimized to the task bar it works as expected.
However, when Mailwasher is minimized to the system tray, it goes to the system tray. But when I double left-click on the Mailwasher system tray icon instead of opening it just shows up in the task bar.
Then when I then double left-click on Mailwasher in the task bar and try to maximize the program, nothing happens. When I close down Mailwasher in the task bar, Mailwasher crashes and I receive the "program is not responding" error message.
Other times when I go through the above exercise, double-clicking left or right on Mailwasher in the system tray or task bar does nothing. And I must use Task Manager to shut down Mailwasher with a kill process command.
2nd Problem
When I use Quick Display to change the size of the buttons it works as expected. But when I reload Mailwasher the settings aren't saved and the buttons go back to the size they were before I changed them. The same thing happens when I change the type size or positions of the columns. The changed settings aren't saved. These problems only occur when I'm also having the problem of minimizing to the system stray and Mailwasher crashes instead of closing down properly. So I'm assuming when you fix problem #1 then problem #2 will likely go away.
FYI -- I'm using Windows XP Pro SP3, and a 4-processor PC with 4 gigs of memory.

Re: Mailwasher 2010 Crashes When Minimized
The second problem might be a bug that has been identified, some settings are not being saved properly. A fix for this is being tested as I type.
Try changing the buttons and then manually closing MWP (File > Exit), wait a minute or 2 then restart WMP.

Re: Mailwasher 2010 Crashes When Minimized
Try using a single click rather than a double click. When the icon is in the notification area and you double click mine disappears and I wind up with the adjacent application opening up.MRCOA wrote:1st Problem

Re: Mailwasher 2010 Crashes When Minimized
i've discovered that the problem appears when I'm also running TradeTrakker (which also loads when Windows XP Pro starts). Trade Trakker also uses .NET 3.5. When TradeTrakker isn't running, Mailwasher 2010 works fine.

Would I be correct if I guessed you were referring to Problem #1 when you say "I've discovered that the problem ..."; or are you talking about problem #2; or Both???? A little clarification would be helpful to us.MRCOA wrote:i've discovered that the problem appears when I'm also running TradeTrakker (which also loads when Windows XP Pro starts). I do have one from a Win7 user where I can see something funky happening in the Task bar code, which may be related, so we'll fix that up soon.
Re: Mailwasher 2010 Crashes When Minimized
I don't see any Crash Reports in my Inbox for this, when you restart MailWasher are you presented with a Crash dialog screen ?MRCOA wrote:1st Problem

Re: Mailwasher 2010 Crashes When Minimized
Same problem (problem #1) with me. I can't maximize MW from system tray. The window seems to open (topmost bar visible at top of my screen) but then the bar goes down to my task bar, MW ist shown in task bar but and I can't open it any more. There was occasionally (only once) a .net error shown up. I just can't use MW any more as it is minimized to system tray at start.
Another problem is that I cant't get rid of the welcome animation. I disable the option to launch it on start but next time it's there again. Maybe that's because I can't exit the program in a regular way (see problem above).
Armin
Edit:
After a reboot MW seems to work as expected (but I just tried it some minutes)! Simple advice might be: reboot after installation
And I got rid of the welcome animation after I managed to exit the program regular.
Hopefully, Armin

I'll thought I had the most actual version as I downloaded MW 2010 only some hours ago. But I will try to update it of course. At the moment I can't check the actual version as MW is not reacting any more. Have to reboot...
Re: Mailwasher 2010 Crashes When Minimized
Thanx - especially as the problem is back again. Rebooting did not solve it. Again, a .NET Framework error was thrown.rusticdog wrote:Both these issues are addressed in the 1.0.4 version we just posted, try Help >> Check for Updates....

If you can get to the task manager (CRTL+SHIFT+ESC) then just end the processes MailWasherPro.exe & MAilWasherProApp.exe this should save you having to reboot.aguen wrote:I can't check the actual version as MW is not reacting any more. Have to reboot...

Right - thank you for your advice. But unfortunately it seems that I need to reboot to use MW again (until the next crash).anniebrion wrote:If you can get to the task manager (CRTL+SHIFT+ESC) then just end the processes MailWasherPro.exe & MAilWasherProApp.exe this should save you having to reboot.aguen wrote:I can't check the actual version as MW is not reacting any more. For the moment I can't use the new MW 2010 version. I have to switch back to the old pro version (how? just disable launch at startup for the new and enable this feature for the old one?) and will give MW 2010 a second try in a while. I've been a MW fan for many years and hope the best for the future.
Best, Armin
Let me add another observation: Even in the periods, when MW did its job - when I open the MW window I got at first a completely black sceen. Only the task bar at the bottom is not black. Looks as opening a big DOS-box.

It would also be a great help if you could also email me your log files for the new version so we can be sure we know the problem. If you are able email to [email protected]
On XP
C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\Firetrust\MailWasher\ include the error.log file
C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\Firetrust\MailWasher\Logs\ include the whole folder
