I'm sure there's a category that I missed, but I can't find the setting to remove my e-mails after I've washed them and moved them to Outlook. Do they automatically self-delete after a few days?
Thanks

Unless you have your mail client set to "Leave messages on the Server" MWP should clear the grid with every mail check based on what has been d'loaded OFF the mail server.

Re: Removing e-mails after washing to Outlook
That all depends on how you have Outlook set. Your mail program is responsible for downloading the mail it sees on the server and once it has a good download for deleting the messages. There is a "leave messages on server" option somewhere in Outlook that will remove them once the download completes, after a few (settable) days, when you delete the message from Outlook or to leave them on the server for another program to delete.

Thanks. I just upgraded to Outlook 2007, and finding some of those settings has been a chore. I'll find them and change.
Thanks again

Tools >> Account Settings >> highlight the account and click Change >> More Settings >> Advanced ....
If it's an IMAP account, the you don't have this option, instead you need to move the emails out of your Inbox folder and that will stop MailWasher showing them.

Re: Removing e-mails after washing to Outlook
Hi, I use GMail with IMAP and my GMail emails are downloaded each time I use MW. I wash my mail and open Outlook 2003 - all OK.
However my GMail emails are still showing in my MW Inbox (presumably because I have selected to keep all my email on the GMail server after downloading it to Outlook - for insurance purposes!)
You indicate in the previous posting that we should move the emails out of the Inbox folder to stop MailWasher showing them, but do not tell us how to do this.
The spam and unwanted emails I want off the email server and MW does an excellent job of this, however whilst I still want to download the good stuff into Outlook I still want to keep a copy out there in Gmail land!!
Any help with IMAP and GMail would be appreciated.

Re: Removing e-mails after washing to Outlook
Select the mail you want to move and then click the Move menu. I'd suggest a new folder like "Seen" or "Hold" as the destination.

Re: Removing e-mails after washing to Outlook
Or you could just select them all and Press Archive, the mail will then be available in the "All Mail" You can still set labels at a later date
Note: Emails deleted from Gmail's inbox will still be left in "All Mail" on Gmail due to the way Gmail's delete works
Deleted from other labels/folders works as expected. I have requested an option to move deleted mail to Gmail's Bin folder, we'll have to wait and see if it is accepted

Re: Removing e-mails after washing to Outlook
Thanks for the recommendations folks. BUT I do not go into GMail as such, as I said before it is my insurance policy in case Outlook or my PC crashes. I rarely access GMail through my browser, so what you are suggesting is just another step in managing my email.
I want to use MW to clean up my mail before booting up my Outlook, and that works fine. However my seen emails are still on view in my MW Inbox and are then reloaded each time I start my PC, slowing things down even more.
STOP PRESS: I tried your suggestion and archived my stuff from my GMail Inbox, and guess what?? It has disappeared from my Outlook Inbox too!!! NOT what I wanted.

In that case once you move them out of your Inbox folder in Outlook, they should disappear.

You should have access to Gmail's "All mail" folder in Outlook this is where archived emails go!Frelon wrote:STOP PRESS: I tried your suggestion and archived my stuff from my GMail Inbox, and guess what?? It has disappeared from my Outlook Inbox too!!! NOT what I wanted.

Yes, but that (as the name implies) has all my mail, including sent mail. I just want the mail from my inbox, sorry to be so picky!!anniebrion wrote:You should have access to Gmail's "All mail" folder in Outlook this is where archived emails go!Frelon wrote:STOP PRESS: I tried your suggestion and archived my stuff from my GMail Inbox, and guess what?? Re: Removing e-mails after washing to Outlook
But if you have never archived before "ALL mail" is just the email that were in your INBOX, "All mail" excludes SPMA & Deleted emails and is just a list of those that you have labels/archived.Frelon wrote:Yes, but that (as the name implies) has all my mail, including sent mail.
