Wording of the newsletter announcing MW2010

Thu Aug 05, 2010 2:54 am

They must have got to the middle of the alphabet in mailing out the newsletter about MW2010. Mine arrived today.

I see that like most of the literature about this, it does not warn that the software dies if you do not renew annually.

Indeed, it is positively misleading. It says:
Due to the scale of this development, there is a small $US10 (or equivalent in your currency) purchase fee.
I have already pointed out that other bits of literature are equally obfuscatory on this topic. But they do at least use the "subscription" word. "Purchase fee" suggests that I get to buy the stuff, not rent it.

Also, I am puzzled by this statement:
To show our appreciation for your support you'll get an additional free license to use or give away!
I didn't get this deal.

I ended up paying for two licences, one for my PC the other for the laptop. I received only two licences. Indeed, when I asked about this, I was told that I needed to buy two licences.

Perhaps I was too quick off the mark. If so, it seems a bit mean to bilk those of us who rushed in too quickly.

They've changed policy now a single license can be used on 1 Desktop & 1 Laptop (when v2010.1.0.9 is released), I'm sure RusticDog will sought you out, they are very good with refunds.

Thanks. There should be a mechanism in place to deal with saddo early adopters like me.

Yeap, sadly that's the side effect of early adoption. We just couldn't deal with the support load trying to email everyone at once.

Do you want a refund or extra time added to your licenses ?

Extend me for a year, then I really will have forgotten all about the subscription deal.
