Hi:
Longtime user of MWP. Just installed 2010 on laptop alongside 6.5.4 (haven't purchased yet - will do so once I get it up and running).
Mail account settings were imported, but getting errors when checking my gmail account.
It's all greek to me, but I did notice that MWP 2010 seems to think that the gmail account is IMAP, but I have it set up as POP in TB 3.1.2.
The only other odd thing during install/setup/import is that MWP seemed to find *6* accounts, even though I only have 4 (3 POP via ISP and 1 POP gmail).
Perhaps MWP is looking for mail in the (nonexistent) IMAP account?
Please advise. Thanks!

Hi there
You should be using SSL on port 995 with GMail, you can change it to a POP account under the Incoming Settings, the SSL and port settings are just below this under Advanced.

Re: MWP 2010.1.0.10 - Error getting gmail messages
Hi, RD:
Sorry, but I'm fairly computer illiterate when it comes to these things...
I have managed to blunder my way through moving email accounts/settings from/to several different platforms over the years, but I try not to monkey with the settings when all works OK.
So, I'm not very adept at it and I really know nothing about SSL/STARTTLS, encryption etc.
Are you saying that those SSL settings need to be changed in my email client or in MWP?
Everything was working fine with the existing settings in 6.5.4.
I don't think my ISP supports SSL.
I'll have to check the account settings in TB.
Also, FWIW, I use MSGTAG Status for tagging outgoing emails -- I don't think this should affect MWP and incoming emails, but I thought I'd mention it.
Can you please provide a bit more specific instructions on exactly what settings to change and where?
Thanks for the help,
daledoc1

Re: MWP 2010.1.0.10 - Error getting gmail messages
Tried your suggestions, but got "failed to connect to server" errors.
I'm sure there's something that needs tweaking, but not sure what....
Very frustrating.
Will await further, more detailed instructions.
Related question: if the account settings were imported from 6.5.4, why isn't it working "out of the box"?
TIA,
daledoc1

Re: MWP 2010.1.0.10 - Error getting gmail messages
Hi, Sidewinder:
I think I managed to get it to work, even before you posted your very helpful screen cap.
Since MWP is "seeing" both gmail accounts (the "real" POP and the "non-existent" IMAP), and it seems to be working fine with the POP account now, can I just delete the gmail IMAP account from the MWP account settings?
(Not sure how I ended up with 6 accounts, when there are only 4 -- some sort of latent duplication, probably from when I first installed and set up TB on this platform?)
Thanks for being so prompt and helpful!

Yes just delete out each of the Accounts that are not current and all should be fine.Daledoc1 wrote:Hi, Sidewinder:

FYI, MWP2010 also looks at some of the more popular email client to obtain its account and not just an earlier installed MWP.
