In previous versions of Mailwasher, after you 'washed' e-mails, Outlook would open up and you would download the e-mails and then on returning to Mailwasher, these would have been removed from the Mailwasher display.
Using Outlook 2010, I noticed that these are still displayed in Mailwasher - how do I remove them?

Re: Removing downloaded Messages from Mailwasher
Hi there
After Outlook downloads if you go back to MailWasher and Check Mail, do they then disappear ? If so this is just acase of timing where MailWasher needs to check the accounts again to see that the messages are gone.
If not, then it could be that Outlook 2010 is leaving the emails on the server after download. This is becoming much more common as a default setting in email programs these days. Unfortunately I don't have Outlook 2010 handy, but pilfered from another website...

In Outlook 2010 Click the File tab, Click Account Settings, Click on account settings again, Highlight existing email account, click Change, click More Settings..., click Advanced tab, in Delivery section uncheck box "Leave a copy of message on the server.", click OK, click Next, after test email has been sent click Close, click Finish.

Re: Removing downloaded Messages from Mailwasher
I believe this is more of a MW problem in that I seem to be reading a lot of problems surrounding this same issue. Having printed out my settings from gmail itself, settings from my email clients and settings from MW and find that all four accounts are set up exactly the same. 3 of the 4 accounts work perfectly but one does not. It keeps the mail there - oh but wait - only some of it while some of it does get deleted. Can't figure out why some does and some does not and frankly have received little help from the forum. And in my case since it does delete some of the emails after they were read and some are not deleted I rather doubt it is a setting in the email itself - it is in MW and this problem does indeed need to be fixed.

Thanks, I have just checked the Account Settings (on Outlook 2010) and under Advanced Settings, there is an option where you can select 'n' number of days where you can leave copies of the messages on the Server.

Re: Removing downloaded Messages from Mailwasher
If you decide to leave them on the server for a while add the read/unread column to MW so you can mark them as read and not have to bother with them again.
Other good news is that you can enable a cache under your account settings so MW won't have to download messages it has seen before like v6 did, makes getting mail much faster if there is old stuff on the server or if you just clear the grid and re-check it.

Could always set No of Days On Server to '0' - that might help, as I seemed to have downloaded 3000+ emails, where there was only 1500 originally.

I have both a laptop for travel and a desktop at home. I have the LT configured to leave the messages on the server and the desktop to remove them on download.

I use Outlook 2007 but I think that the options are likely to be the same. Unless you don't have space on your hard drive to store the good mail that you want then why not just remove the tick mark in the Outlook option to leave a copy on the server.johnfairweather wrote:Could always set No of Days On Server to '0' - that might help, as I seemed to have downloaded 3000+ emails, where there was only 1500 originally.
