Figured I'd start a new thread, since my issue differs from that of the OP on the other thread about filters/settings not importing from 6 to 2010.
Can't run installer for MWP2010 1.0.15.
Laptop: Check for updates tells me I am UTD. So, I download the installer from the link in RD's sticky at the top of the forum page.
Closed MWP.
When I try to run it, I get a "not a valid Windows application" (or some such) error.
Not a permissions thing from UAC.
Am I just brain-fried, or is there something I am doing wrong, or is there a problem with the file?
Do I need to have MWP **open** to run it?
(I thought one usually has to **close** a program in order to install updates??)
Thanks,
daledoc1

First step try the download again, hopefully it will work then. I'd close MW to do the upgrade install but it will close MW if it finds it open so either way should work.
If that isn't it I'd guess Windows issue of some type and I'm little help there.

Does downloading and running from that link in the sticky note work for you?
It looks like it downloaded 2 files, the ".exe" and a ".exe.part" file, which seems weird.
I can't imagine what "Windows" thing could be causing the error. The computer is otherwise fine and stable, fully patched, yadayada.
Total computer noob here, but the problem seems to be with the executable file?
Well, will wait to hear back, perhaps from RD, before trying again on either system.
Thanks and g'night,

If you are seeing an exe and an exe.part it is because your downloader has not finished downloading the file, you have to wait for it to finish before using it.
It is Windows... I can imagine a dozen things that could be going wrong, why I quit using it myself.

Hmm, OK.
Well, it appears I'm not the only one having this problem, as there is another thread started by another poster.
The LT is powered off and I will be leaving for work soon, so I will try again later on it, on this DT, or on both...
(Pending help from RD and others.)
THANKS, Stan_gaz!

Re: Trouble running MWP2010 1.0.15 installer
1.0.15 successfully manually downloaded and installed on both systems.
RD was correct, as usual: it must have been a corrupt download the first time.
(FWIW, the updater must be wonky, b/c I tried "help" > "check for updates" on both systems immediately before, and was told I was UTD.)
If 1.0.15 includes an updater fix, then I hopefully when the next build is released, the same steps WILL notify me that an update is available?
Thanks!

Re: Trouble running MWP2010 1.0.15 installer
I cant get the "mailwasher_pro_setup_1015_18082010.exe" installer to work on my PC.
I am running XP with all updates, also checked the .net SP as per upgrade instructions to be sure.
I have downloaded file twice and run from desktop, also run directly from download. I have restarted the computer between each try.
I get an initial box preparing to install - then nothing, the task mamager shows 100% Load, I have left for over 15 minutes on each occasion - it does not proceed.
Task manger shows it the installer as running.

Hi Paul
Was there any previous MailWasher 2010 installed, or is this the first time you've tried to install ?

Re: Trouble running MWP2010 1.0.15 installer
Hello.
I cannot install the latest version as the installer asks for the MailWasher disk. I have no disk as my MWP 2010 was directly down loaded.
I currently have version 2010.1.0.6 installed.
Any suggestions?
Thanks.
Budnick

Hi Budnick
Try removing 1.0.6 through the Control Panel >> Add/Remove Program utility >> be sure though to answer Yes, to keep your data files >> then try installing 1.0.15 manually again.

Hello.
I was able to get it to work by uninstalling. Was not able to uninstall using "Control Panel >> Add/Remove Program utility >> " had to use Revo Uninstaller as it was still looking for Disk1.
New version working fine now.
Thanks.
