Well thank you for that comment............I will not remove anything.
Interesting to note that I was working in Outlook when this notice of response was received.
I had already checked marked the Disable Scheduled etc, also no checks in the Mail options for gettting mail. Yet with all of this....I still just get mail throught the day.
I noticed in Win7, that after I look at Outlook, there is a icon for Outlook in the taskbar............must be something in the registry that keeps this mystery going..............any thoughts?

Re: Switch Auto Mail Checking in Outlook 2003
Here is a web page describing the use of the Send/Receive Settings in Outlook 2003.
http://www.freeemailtutorials.com/micro ... ptions.cwd
You will have to make sure that you make the same changes for all Groups that you want MWP to work with.
1. Make sure you leave the tick box enabled for included in F9
2. Make sure you untick the boxes for Automatic for both online and offline.
3. Make sure you untick the box(es) for "when exiting".
After you have made all the changes you must close Outlook and then restart and watch to make sure it is no longer doing a check on startup.
Once you have that accomplished then when you do a Wash from MWP it will open Outlook but you will then need to manually do a Send/Receive from the menu or F9 to retrieve the messages left on the server by MWP.

Re: Switch Auto Mail Checking in Outlook 2003
Outlook can't be set to fetch mail from MW since MW does not send e-mails anywhere. Your Outlook must be set to connect to your mail server where the messages you want to collect are located.cyclone3211 wrote: Since I have setup Outlook to receive from MW, does it make sense that I should remove the other email accounts that I have within Outlook?
If you remove an account from Outlook then it will no longer collect mail for that account. Can I operate Outlook 2003 without indicating any email accounts for Incoming and just leave the Outgoing part of those accounts with only MW to be able to send mail to Outlook?
B4 I remove all of the email setups from Outlook, does this approach make sense and will it work?

Re: Switch Auto Mail Checking in Outlook 2003
I was using Outlook Express without any issues from MW. Gmail went ot MW and MW went to OE after email checking. Nothing downloaded to OE.
Now every time I open Outlook 2003 it downloads everthing that I had with gMail prior to me eliminating what I do not want to receive as a download to my computer.
So, if this can not work in the same manner, than either suggest a different program to download that I haven't tried already or it is goodby to MW.
Bottom line is that I want to keep MW to be the middle prior to download to my computer.
What must I do?????????????????????...................of course I have not mentioned that my wife and I use different email programs on our computer and do not want to share any of them with each other. Fine with me!!!

You need to take a look again at each Group that you have set up in OE and remove the tick marks from the boxes, close Outlook completely and then restart it to confirm that it is not doing a mail check either on close or start.
Re: Switch Auto Mail Checking in Outlook 2003
There is no transfer of messages from MWP. MWP looks at your ISP mail server, downloads a partial sample of each message leaving all of them still setting on the server. MWP then evaluates the samples and presents the results to you for your decision. When you complete the evaluation and tell MWP to Wash then MWP will delete any messages that you left marked for deletion from your ISP mail server and leave all the rest of the "good" messages on the server and then makes a call to your mail program. You then perform a manual Send/Receive and the "good" messages are downloaded from the ISP mail server to your mail application and if you have your mail program so configured it will then delete each of the messages that you downloaded from the server. When MWP runs the next mail check it will find which messages have been deleted on the server and delete them from the Inbox grid.cyclone3211 wrote:I was using Outlook Express without any issues from MW. Re: Switch Auto Mail Checking in Outlook 2003
Just ran across this topic from a discussion on Google. The original posted problem was that Outlook would not automatically check the mail at start-up or at the timed interval selected. The user would change the Outlook settings but nothing was changing. The short version is that the Group for accounts was corrupted. That got me thinking that you may have the same problem in reverse where your changes are being ignored.
Here is the MS solution to correcting a corrupted Group:

Re: Switch Auto Mail Checking in Outlook 2003
Again, many thanks for your help.
Went to the MS site and made a new group along with changing the original group so that it could do nothing.
I will soon see if this made any changes.
The problem is that I remove many items in my gMail account online, then I start MWP and download the selected items, and recheck what I have in MWP and expect what is selected to go to Outlook.
I do not have MWP running on auto start...........manual only.
But, when MWP opens Outlook, Outlook seems to take over and obtains many of the emails that I had already eliminated prior to going to MWP

It sounds to me that your "online" session is not actually removing the messages from the server.
Hopefully the fix in Outlook will stop the autocheck from firing on start.

I really hope it does!
Now I must eliminate the same crap again that I had done before........................as stated before.....it worked in the past for several years and the only change has been from OE to Outlook.
We shall see today.

Re: Switch Auto Mail Checking in Outlook 2003
Just to let you know, there is a problem in the way Gmail handles deletes from its Inbox (using IMAP), any deleted mail will still show up in the "All Mail" folder in Gmail
This is due to Gmail not following proper standards.
I have to manually delete from "All Mail" any thing MWP2010 deletes from the Inbox within my email client (Thunderbird3) or from webmail.
I have suggested a change to MWP2010 that would help get around this, but I'm not sure how low on the list is is.
BTW, this is not a problem with deletes from ANY other Gmail folder

Re: Switch Auto Mail Checking in Outlook 2003
All Mail is a problem. Is there a way to filter out everything but IN BOX and Sent BOX?
Is there a way to do that with a filter in OUTLOOK?
Has anyone done this?
How does MWP do it since the ALL MAIL is not there, while Outlook can not?

Re: Switch Auto Mail Checking in Outlook 2003
I guessing because I'm not a Gmail user but it appears that you likely have your Gmail configured for IMAP.
From some of the info on the Gmail site it appears that if you want to use Gmail with Outlook you need to tell Gmail to do POP:
http://mail.google.com/support/bin/answ ... lev=answer
Then you manage deletions in Gmail:
http://mail.google.com/support/bin/answ ... swer=13290
You configure Outlook 2003 and MWP 2010 using this information:
http://mail.google.com/support/bin/answ ... swer=13278
Hope this helps.
