Re: Show Hidden Emails
That's because you've missed the little '-' at top left of the group heading. You just click that and the whole group is minimized and its contents are hidden.

Re: Show Hidden Emails
I'd go the other direction and suggest folks put in their requests for what they want done first or for new functions as soon as they know what they want. The firetrust folks do look at suggestions here in the forums and more-so over here: http://suggest.firetrust.com/ and use that as part of the decision on what to do next. The suggestion site is probably best as you can collect votes from other users and unlike the forum your suggestions won't get buried in all the other posts.mkcomputing wrote:Actually, it is also worth users waiting a bit before throwing in too many "give me that back" requests.

Re: Show Hidden Emails
When you wash the mail all your keepers remain in the grid of MW because they are still on the mail server until they are removed by Outlook. Then when the next Check mail occurs either manually or automatically MWP syncs up with the server.tbenton wrote:Also....when I wash the mail they do not leave the list although they are in my Outlook. Phillip, I feel like a complete computing newbie and I am anything but that. Never even noticed the '-' or '+'...Double DUH on me...thanks

EDIT..Ok now what do I do....the collapsing only lasts while I am looking at it. When new mail comes in all the 'friend' mail is there again and not minimized/collapsed. MY preference is to never see any of the 'friend' mail in the inbox like it used to be but I will accept the collapsed version but it won't stick.

Re: Show Hidden Emails
Ah, well found, Terri!
Actually I've just noticed that you can expand or minimize a group simply by double clicking on its header line. Perhaps it would be helpful for people unfamiliar with the +/- convention, for the developers to add a tool-tip to the group header line, to say something like "To expand or minimize a group, double click on its header line or click the '-' or '+' to its left.".
Anyway, I hope you now find the groups system to be as helpful as I've found it. It had seemed my life depended on having my e-mails auto-hidden, but the way that groups can be used has turned out to be considerably more useful.

Re: Show Hidden Emails
Just a short note of caution in blindly trusting the friends lists. Today's spammers are masters at using addresses from pilfered sources to fire off their stuff and avoid detection. It better to give your incoming(s) a cursory glance as well as what the other tools in MWP 2010 have to say about the messages.tbenton wrote:EDIT..Ok now what do I do....the collapsing only lasts while I am looking at it. Re: Show Hidden Emails
I understand what you are saying but it all the years I have MW I marked my friends' mail and never saw them again in MW in box and never had an issue. Every time MW runs I have 10-20 emails from friends and as I said earlier the minimizing won't stick so I have this long list of mail sitting there. Its a step backward in my opinion to take away being able to hide friends. What was it hurting? If it ain't broke don't fix it!!!

Re: Show Hidden Emails
Yes, this is why, having understood the new MWP's grouping system and got used to it, I actually prefer to have all my Friends and other supposedly 'good' messages visible initially following a mail check. Then I can quickly scan through them to ensure that nothing has 'slipped through', and reclassify anything as necessary before I then hide the 'goodies'.

Re: Show Hidden Emails
There is an enhancement coming for the friends list at some point that should really help with the spoofing issue. Firetrust hasn't ignored the issue and is working towards a pretty solid fix.
