Mailwasher Pro 2010 GUI has greatly improved, compliments to the developers!
I have been a MW supporter for quite some time already.
(Going back in time I traced one of the first mails to '[email protected]' ..
early 2002, involving Mailwasher v.1.32)
The only thing that I always felt was missing, was and still is a decent backup and restore option.
In order to keep my system-partition (C:) as clean as possible, I install applications on another partition.
I install MW on D:\
Sofar, as a backup, I copied the contents of just 1 folder. In case of a new Windows and
MW install, I simply copied back the contents (.txt files) to C:\Programs and settings
and then launched MW.
Usually MW wud then be back to normal.
After the new install of MW 2010 and running a 'find mailwasher' on my C-drive the
following folders show up.
C:\Users\All Users\Firetrust\MailWasher
C:\ProgramData\Firetrust\MailWasher
C:\Users\MyName\AppData\Roaming\Firetrust\MailWasher
C:\Users\All Users\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\MailWasher Pro
C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\MailWasher Pro
C:\Users\MyName\AppData\Roaming\MailWasherPro
Maybe some folders can be deleted, I donot know.
I think it would be an enhancement if MW would have a backup/restore button.
Running a 'backup' MW to ask the user where to put the data files
Restore :
two options
1. A totally fresh install MW (i.e. no previous MW available) - obviously there is no backup,
because MW has never been used before;
2. A fresh install into an existing MW-folder (either on C: or onto another partition):
- MW to find the location of the backup-folder (shd be stored in MW settings) and
- ask users whether it should perform a restore
Hope this idea will be considered.
