This utility I am sure will make many folk happy.
Next time you have a beta, invite me. I'm really good at that, I even have references if you want them. You clearly need better beta testers than you have.
Nice way to make friends, NOT :!:  :booty :livid

They tried to sell me what I consider unusable beta quality software, so either they need better testers or they released it against the wishes of the testers. Whichever, I have little respect for that.

So let's see:

I get an email that offers an upgrade for $10. I being the loyal customer, follow the link and give them my $10. Doesn't even occur to me to download the demo or read the fine print, Firetrust has always been straight with me in the past.

I install it only to find that my 100 plus filters won't import so I go to the Forum and start reading and find that Firetrust considers the conversion from old style filters to new style filters an unsolvable problem and I'm told to open both programs and copy them across one at a time. Really??

I spend less time and write a program to do it automatically which I donate to the cause. Will you top using it because you don't like me?

I also in reading discover that if I'd tossed the old one and kept the new one that in one year it would stop working, a fact that was clearly missing from the upgrade email I received.

I try to add a new filter I'm told I need to properly handle friends that needs to be the first filter and discover that to move it from the bottom of the list to the top will take me about 5 minutes and a bit over 100 mouse clicks. 5 minutes because each mouse click takes about 4 seconds to respond.

I delete the product and ask for my money back.

Someone here discovers a problem with importing his filters using my free tool and shortly thereafter the problem is fixed and all is well. The same will happen again if anothr problem is found.

In a private message someone suggests I ask for a free copy because of my contribution to this product.

I respond with something and then I get a one word thankyou from someone who works for Firetrust.

Sorry, I was probably out of line, but personally I feel ripped off. I'm glad you don't and I'm really sorry you feel insulted by what I said. it was really aimed at the author
But I guess quite badly written.

Let's be fair Ira, having or not having a filter conversion tool is not beta testing.
Possibly it was mentioned by one or more beta testers at the start, and they got the same response I did?. I know several new users have mentioned it, I being one of them, but it is up to Firetrust to decide what goes in, what stays out.

Beta testers as far as I know are the same as UAT testers, they identify faults, they do not make policy.

You've created a useful tool, which a good few people will find easy to use and will want to use it, I being one of them, and as I said before Thank You, but do not attack others who are also helping and have helped to make MW 2010 a better product.

I asked about filter imports a couple times and got told Firetrust didn't see it as something important. Looking at it I had to agree with them since there was no good way to do the transfer with any assurance it would be correct in 2010 especially for complex regex stuff as the engines syntax varies a bit.

It was only a few minutes work to open v5 and 2010 and do a copy/paste across from the UI so I never gave the issue any more thought. Debugging for my filters was pretty simple since I didn't hit any of the regex incompatibilities and instead spent my time on optimizing the filters to work better in 2010. That optimizing can make a big difference in filter execution speed for folks with complex filter setups.

I'd rather have new or missing features added to 2010 than time spent on a converter that will only be used by a few folks and one time at that. I'm happy you did your tool, same as I am for the Dog's Bite stuff for v5 and v6, folks like them and use them but they are not something I would use.
I am not a Firetrust employee just a MW user.
