The new MW is not ready. One poster suggested it is still a beta program. I concur. This should not have been released, just yet. It is very slow, it is badly organized and, despite the claim of 'saving space' by moving the standard menu to the wrong place (and I certainly never would have brought up Symantec as a "good design" example!) the icons for this and that are far too large and intrusive. The whole thing looks and feels like it was slapped together from bits found laying around a failed design studio.
The inbox is slow. Rather than using the Windows API as in the past, the programmers apparently decided to get all clever and use a graphics writing interface. This makes it SLOW! In the old MW, I can do the click-click thing, see what an email is all about and either accept or reject it almost instantly. To visually process 20 emails a minute is very easy in the old MW. Not so in the new.
And there is more -- the 'don't check between ' time function does not work.
and so on.
I've deleted the program from my 'puter and await a *real* upgrade.
Thanks,
Walter Hawn

Re: Not ready for prime time
Another poster that didn't bother to spend a few minutes learning about the program, sad.
The icon size is under the user's control, from tiny to huge so each can pick what works for them, it tells you all about that on the opening screen.
The Windows API doesn't offer re-sizable fonts, one of the most requested features from v6 MW users.

I am not a Firetrust employee just a MW user.

Re: Not ready for prime time
Thanks for the feedback Walter.
We have toned down the default icon size to something a little less intrusive and will be looking at methods of improving the display settings.
With regards to the actual look of the application, we were never going to please everyone. We have copped flack for the old interface being too dull and now cop flack for the new interface being too colorful so it's really just a matter of doing our best and hoping the majority agree. Feedback has been a bit love hate but thankfully the majority are pleased with the new look. Perhaps we can look into offering a classic theme sometime in the future.
You say the interface is badly organized, perhaps you can further clarify on this point? What elements of the interface did you feel were badly organized and what is it you were trying to achieve when you came to this realization? e.g. "I was trying to recover a deleted email and was looking for the recycle bin button but could not find it.. later I realized it's within a tab at the top!"
As for speed, you are quite right that it's slower than the old version (especially on older machines) and this is most definitely an issue we are addressing. It would be very helpful to know what your machine specs are.

Re: Not ready for prime time
I have supported firetrust for many years and have registered most of their products. Currently I feel that Mailwasher 2010 is analogous to Microsoft's 'Vista' release after XP.
XP worked, it was fast and I guess you know the rest. Personally I will be going back to old mailwasher pro and hopefully when it is time to renew my registration on Mailwasher 2010 it will be worth spending some money on and hopefully I will be using it because you have made an improved product. Seriously, I want you to succeed but I have read a few of the admin replies to user concerns and believe me, your getting it wrong.
