Mailwasher completely crippled.

Mon Sep 06, 2010 10:25 pm

Hi,

I have Mailwasher 2010 installed on 2 laptops. Both running Windows 7 x64 Home Edition. On one of them Mailwasher has become completely crippled. It is unable to connect to my email accounts. I have checked in Windows Firewall and it is allowed access to the network. I have also disabled the firewall to double check but still I can't connect to my email accounts. I have carried out a complete uninstall and reinstall and now if I try to enter my serial number it is unable to validate. Outlook 2010 has no problems connecting to my accounts. I also have installed Prevx 3 and PC Tools Spyware Blaster and Antivirus. Below are the error messages for each account. All passwords have been checked and found to be correct.

Yahoo

Sorry to reply to my own post, I may have posted in haste. I recently uninstalled Online Armor Firewall and realise this is what could've caused the problem.

I'll look into this immediately and get back to you. :facepalm

OK, all those errors are basically the same....MW cannot connect.

Your thoughts about the Firewall are most probably right, perhaps it didn't cleanup properly and the service/process that controls which applications can access the net or not is still running. I recall ZoneAlarm had this problem quite frequently around 5-6 years ago, where even after uninstalling it was still running and you couldn't add further programs to access the net.

Well it turned out to be the "Advanced Browser Integration" setting in Internet Download Manager. Very strange as it appears to be working fine on the other laptop.

OK good, they seem to mention that on the site http://www.internetdownloadmanager.com/ ... l#general4

I assume both machines are running the same version of Internet Download Manager ?

DOH! :facepalm
No they're not or rather they weren't. They are now both running 6.0 betas and everything is back to normal.

Oh dear what an idiot, fancy not spotting the obvious. :crazy

Many thanks for your help. Its much appreciated.
