MAILWASHER 2010 WILL NOT RETRIEVE EMAILS

My MAILWASHER PRO 2010 (VERSION 1.0.27) is absolutely exasperating to use. When I first installed it a few days ago, everything was fine. I was able to retrieve emails without a problem. Then, inexplicably, the program failed to function. I received error messages, to wit: Description: An unknown error has occurred. MailWasher is unable to determine the cause of this error.

Then, just as inexplicably, the program worked and I was able to resume receipt of my emails. Then, just a little while ago, the program failed to function once again, and I received the above error. Believing that the problem might be caused by either my Kaspersky 2011 Internet Security program or my "AdMuncher" ad blocker program, or both, I turned off each of the programs, but I am still having the same email retrieval issue. I turned off pipelining in MailWasher as suggested, but that didn't help. Fortunately, I am able to use an older version of MailWasher (version 6.5.4) and that program works fine with my Kaspersky and AdMuncher software. I have absolutely no idea what could be causing the intermittant problem I am having with the latest version of MailWasher. I do note that, even when the program was working, I could not "wash" emails that I wished to wash with the latest version of Kaspersky running, so there may be a causal connection there. Be that as it may, I cannot and will not operate my computer without a security program and I am not going to purchase a new anti-virus program given the expense I incurred with Kaspersky. And, even if I did purchase a new anti-virus program, how do I know that that program would be compatible with the latest version of MailWasher Pro? I will try toying with the firewall settings, but I note that my Kaspersky is set to give MailWasher Pro unrestricted access to my computer and AdMuncher is set to disable filtering of MailWasher and, once again, my MailWasher Pro 6.5.4 works just fine with Kaspersky 2011 and AdMuncher so I do not know what it is about the latest version of MailWasher that should cause such functional sensitivity. I don't have the time to play around with a bunch of settings. My legal work beckons me. If anyone has a clue as to why, after so many successful versions of MailWasher Pro, the Company's most recent version should be causing me -- and possibly others -- so much trouble, I would love to hear what you have to say.

Are you checking multiple accounts or just one?
Have you set your security software setting for both of the MWP .exe files. These two files talk to each other via 127.0.0.1. and use specific Ports.

I use KIS2011 and MWP2010 (but not AdMuncher) fine together.

KIS can be a little twitchy sometimes with application control, especially if the program (whatever it might be) is installed AFTER KIS.
In addition to sidewinder's suggestions, and the *firewall* settings you have already configured, have you also gone into APPLICATION CONTROL and checked those settings?
First, check to be sure MWP (both versions that you have installed, AND both the EXE files for the 2010 version) are listed in TRUSTED.
If not, move them there.
Additionally, go into the APPLICATION RULES for MWP2010 and be sure all 5 of the exclusion boxes are ticked for both EXE files, & be sure to save your changes on the way out.
This last step, of creating "manual" exclusions shouldn't technically be necessary, but it might help.
That said, I don't know why it would be an intermittent problem -- that sure seems weird. :?

One of the best moderator/experts there, a chap from Belgium (whose name I won't post here directly, for privacy reasons), also uses MWP2010 (he posts here from time to time).
If he finds your thread on the board, he may be able to help you out with specific, expert advice about KIS and MWP.

Another, more drastic option might be to completely uninstall MWP, reboot, redownload a fresh copy of the installer, temporarily "pause protection" in KIS, install MWP, then re-activate KIS, making sure to set up the exclusions in the application rules.

Don't know if any of this helps, but I hope you get it sorted out,

PS Only other thing that comes to mind is to ditch AdMuncher -- with the excellent privacy extensions for FF these days, a 3rd-party application might not be needed and might be creating subtle conflicts?

Responsive to Daledoc1 and Sidewinder, I have only one mail account that I use with my MailWasher Pro and that is my pop3 roadrunner account. I have gone into my Kaspersky Application settings and, yes, for both versions of MailWasher Pro they are both completely trusted apps. I did as Daledoc1 suggested and checked each of the five exclusions for each executable version of MailWasher Pro and made sure that I okayed and applied the changes before exiting out of Kaspersky. Now, MailWasher Pro 2010, Version 1.0.27 seems to be working -- maybe checking the five exclusions did the trick. But, I'll wait and see if I have any further problem tomorrow and then for the next couple of days. If all goes well, then, I will conclude that the problem is solved. If not, I'll uninstall, reboot, download MWP once again and reinstall the app. I'll also try manual exclusions in Kaspersky and ask for further help in the Kaspersky forum as suggested and ditch AdMuncher if necessary. Many thanks to both Daledoc1 and Sidewinder for your prompt replies and helpful suggestions which I had not considered.
