Re: Don't check mail.....
It may be doing the check on start-up make sure that and the other option is unticked. If they are then click them on do a save and close MWP when it restarts again then untick and close again.

Nope, none of the "check mail automatically" options are checked, this is something that it's apparently doing on its own despite being told not to.

Your mail application downloads the message and tells the server to delete the messages.
If you then go back to MWP the same message will still be shown until the next Check mail is performed and it will then find that the messages was deleted and remove it from the MWP Inbox.
If this is not happening then it may be that your mail application is set to "leave a copy of the message on the server" or you are using an ISP and/or mail service type that does not delete the messages when they are downloaded into your mail application.
Who are you using for a mail server provider and is you account(s) set for IMAP or POP3?

If you previously check your msgs and download what is available but do not do a Wash they will remain in the Inbox until until:SoCalGuy wrote:Nope, none of the "check mail automatically" options are checked, this is something that it's apparently doing on its own despite being told not to.

Agreed, but that isn't the issue....Sidewinder wrote:

Again, that's not the issue - please go back and re-read my original post where I mention that MW is checking mail periodically on its own even though that box is un-checked on the Settings page.Sidewinder wrote:

SBC/Yahoo, and it's POP3 - but again that shouldn't have any effect on the problem of MW checking mail on its own without being "told to".Sidewinder wrote: Who are you using for a mail server provider and is you account(s) set for IMAP or POP3?

Re: Don't check mail.....
Hi
This looks like a problem I have. Since upgrade to Pro2010, the application keeps polling the internet despite my settings
. I have set the options to what I had under the old version (6.x) which was only to check for messages when I say so.
There seems no way to confirm whether or not any of the check boxes actually do what they say.
The on-line help about settings isn't really help but just a description of each option.
Not happy with this new version
... yet.
Stephen.

Are you determining that MWP is "polling the internet" by observing your security software?StephenWD wrote:Hi

Re: Don't check mail.....
Well my firewall indicates traffic whenever MWP open - I guess it is possible it is just talking to my router. If so, why? I don't see why MWP should be studying my LAN except when I ask it to check mail.

Re: Don't check mail.....
What you are seeing is the internal communications on your system between the two .exe files used in MWP 2010. They communicate using 127.0.0.1 so that is triggering the indicator and is not external traffic. You may be able to tell the firewall that both .exe files are "trusted".StephenWD wrote:Well my firewall indicates traffic whenever MWP open - I guess it is possible it is just talking to my router. Re: Don't check mail.....
I assume this is ZoneAlarm. If right, then it *should* be a case of adding 127.0.0.1 into your Trusted Zone, however this seems to be hit and miss for some people. When I last installed ZoneAlarm too I noticed that is didn't indicate this internal traffic at all.Sidewinder wrote:What you are seeing is the internal communications on your system between the two .exe files used in MWP 2010.
