Re: deleted...not
Ok So far so good, downloaded Thunderbird and although strange I will get used to it, now I have to figure out how to tell MW to take me to mail program as it still takes me to WLM although somewhere or other I ticked make Thunderbird my default. Another thing is to move my calendar from WLM to Thunderbird.

Re: deleted...not
In MailWasher under Settings >> General >> Washing Mail >> you can choose ThunderBird there.
If WLM has a way to Export the calender file then I expect ThunderBird could import it. But I'm not familiar with that.

Talk about going round in circles, I am beginning to think I am as thick as a brick. MW now opens Thunderbird from "mail program" but it doesnt send the mail to TB it goes to WLM. I suppose I could try to delete WLM altogether but I need to get my contacts and calendar imported first.

In ThunderBird, that would be hitting Get Messages, to tell it to download the email off the server.
Re: deleted...not
No, MailWasher doesn't send the email anywhere, it's up to the email program to request the messages.sloppy33 wrote: ↑Mon Feb 01, 2021 1:39 amTalk about going round in circles, I am beginning to think I am as thick as a brick. Got TB to request test message but nothing happened except that the message appeared in WLM.

Do you see other GMail messages in ThunderBird also ?
Re: deleted...not
OK, close WLM so it's not running, send yourself a test message through ThunderBird, can you get it to then load in ThunderBird.

Re: deleted...not
The only way I can close wlm is to delete it off of my computer. Not ready to do that as I need to import calendar and contacts. Sent my test mails to myself they appear in MW and then I click "mail program" up comes TB, click get messages and then nothing. Open WLM and lo and behold there is my message. Now fed up with the whole business and to cap it all it is snowing.

No, you don't understand, just exit the program so it's not running. Then it won't pull down emails.
You say you are using WLM, but Windows Live Mail hasn't been supported for many years, do you mean you use the Mail app that comes packaged with Windows now ? Some screenshots of that app are here https://www.microsoft.com/en-nz/p/mail- ... verviewtab#

Re: deleted...not
I have WLM that came with the pc running windows 10 but I expect the pc has to be 6 or 7 years old. Those screen shots are of my microsoft edge mail prog and I dont use that at all. I turn off my WLM by clicking on the x top right.

Sure. I have to disappear as it's 3am for me now, but it sounds like ThunderBird isn't bringing in any emails, meaning it cannot connect to the account properly, you aren't seeing any errors in ThunderBird at all ?

No need to apologies at all. I think the best thing now would be a remote session where I logon to your machine and see what's going on. If/when you want to do this let me know.

Re: deleted...not
A remote session sounds great, I am ready when you are. Another funny thing TB gets mail without me asking it to just like WLM did, it appears to be also bypassing MW.

Check for messages at startup
Check for messages every xx minutes
Allow immediate server notifications when new messages arrive
Click OK >> restart Thunderbird.
That will stop messages being automatically downloaded.
But going by what you say, then ThunderBird is loading emails now ? Or is it not loading new emails or something else ?
Re: deleted...not
In ThunderBird go Tools >> Accounts Settings >> select Server Settings on the left under your GMail account >> then on the right uncheck the three options

Re: deleted...not
Just sent myself a test mail and sat watching what happened, MW got mail down and then nothing. Clicked "mail program" and TB came up, I did not click get messages but my test mail appeared. I had already been into tools account settings etc as you advised and none of the options were ticked but I could not find an ok button.
