Some of us are up at 4am watching bad movies though :)

Things always backlog with a new version, so expect support delays.....that and we've moved to a new payment processor and only Nick currently has the logons to process the refunds. Expect it done Monday though :thumbsup

The new version of MW is worth the upgrade. I Beta tested it and think it is superb :)

No these were from a real person and they quoted part of my msg - and being in Australia I realise the time in New Zealand :)

After I got the first reply, I thought they misunderstood my email - so I posted a longer detailed one - and got a reply basically justifying why they are charging for MW2010 - and I have no objection to them charging for it - I'm a fellow Software Developer - and I am very happy with MW2010!!! I was only commenting on the confusing nature of upgrades...

Yes - and as I stated in my emails, I didn't really mind as the product is worth it but as a fellow Software Developer I thought I would try and point out that from the Website, the upgrade side of things was a bit "confusing" :) I thought I was being helpful and the emails I got back did cheese me off a bit - but this is a fine product and we have many colleagues and customers over the world that we have recommend MW too and will continue to happily do so :)

Having read somewhere on these forums about using .NET & Windows Presentation Foundation, it made the program look flashy - try the word tacky instead, and for this you want people to pay, and not just once, but then a yearly subscription, or *pop*, it stops working.
I think I will look at other alternatives to MW, should I ever decide to go past v6.5.3
I came to MW by word of mouth, and have supported it likewise since - I feel I can no longer do that.

OK, following my earlier post in the FAQ thread, I did have a look at v2010. To be fair I don't get enough spam to really use it to its potential, and since I heavily rely on the learning function during the time I was running it I did not receive enough spam to train that. But it was sufficient time to convince me that it offers nothing new, some things (like statistics) are still missing, and for my use v6.54 does everything I need. I have now uninstalled it. I may revisit in a year or so, or when at some time in the future I upgrade to a newer machine.

Incidentally I think Firetrust need to do a lot to publicise this new version. Out in the wider internet away from these forums there is very little mention of it, no reviews at all, and most of the hits on MW sadly seem to be to do with password hacks etc. Until the major computer forums and the popular internet press pick it up I don't see it succeeding. Firetrust need to justify their new charging structure, and sadly some of the comments on here indicate they have failed.

2010 was released under a week ago and the newsletters are still going out.

And the intention is to roll it out slowly to reduce load on support. But I think davews' point had to do with MailWasher in general being unknown, rather than the new version being unknown.

Newsletters are currently stopped anyway. We'll resume when Support have caught up.....plus we've got enough on our plate anyway without trying to get more people paying attention to it :thumbsup

Heh. Seems you were defeated by German efficiency, he must have been in the copy/paste zone of responding to emails.

Anyway, partial refund coming your way soon to sort out. My understanding is these take a couple of days to process, but it's in the hands of The Big Cheese now, so any faults/problems we can go straight to the top :thumbsup

I was indeed referring to the NEW version. There is not a whisper of the new version in any of the mainstream forums. Early days I know, but I would have thought the likes of Wilders would have at least flagged it.

Typically you'll find the folk that post the updates do so once they see newsletters and/or forum notifications. We are being much more careful about the volume we are sending, we stopped sending newsletters Friday and probably won't resume until tomorrow.

As far as I know most aren't watching the forums here, but could be wrong. In the old days too I used to post updates to certain people when new versions were out, which I no longer do, so for the most part I would just assume that they don't know.

With Cnet/Download.com having it word will spread quickly enough! Also considering there was nearly a million downloads of the previous version on Download.com I don't think Mailwasher is an unknown lol!
