We're in newsletter mode right now, so we can expect new folk to come along and bring up the same points from last few weeks. We passed mid-way in the alphabet, so we're over halfway there :thumbsup

There are. I am one who doesn't like HAVING to pay "even though we were promised years ago a lifetime of free upgrades" we shouldn't HAVE to do it. I they had asked for "contributions" I would have. It's the principle of this forced payment that is wrong. And yes .. the extra yearly payment just rubs salt into the wound.
We were promised a life time of free upgrades. Turns out to be the lifetime of the PRODUCT rather than the users. Every software product has a shelf life an MWP 6.x has come to the end of it's useful life. I for one am more than happy to pay for an upgrade. I'm less happy but prepared to pay an annual fee. I'm not prepared to have the product die at the end of the 12 months subscription. That's my only gripe and it's something Firetrust are unwilling to change. From what I see on these forums, that situation is not going to change; I'm convinced of that now (I did have faith at one stage).

Fair enough; I backed out to 6.5 and will continue to use it. It's doing what I want it to and I can live without the new user interface. I suggest that you do the same of you are unhappy with the pricing structure. It's what was recommended by others in these forums and seems a sensible option to me.

What I would say is that, if the old code was so difficult and costly to maintain and needed to be thrown out with the users good will, how about posting the code under an Open Source agreement. It is no threat to FireTrust if it is that difficult to maintain.

Just a thought.

They could certainly toss out the code that they had written but there is no way they can release the different libraries/functions that they licensed from others. With no ability to display the mail grid or do regex (two functions I'm sure of) the rest of the code would be about useless.
I am not a Firetrust employee just a MW user.

Then I guess anyone wanting to develop or maintain the code either buys the libraries, develops their own or converts to open source variants. It only needs one or two people to have the inclination to do it.

I've also looked up my description on the forums. It appears I'm a lizard. Not sure whether I'm insulted or not. :scratch

Basically if no body buys the new version based on the subscription membership, then they will have to come up with a plan that will entice folks to buy it or close the door. But if people who don't read the offer keep paying their $10 they will persist in the subscription offer.

RD,
Is the newsletter published anywhere on the forum? I haven't received any in a long time but if it was published here online, that would be a lot easier for some of us who would like to see it sooner.

P.S. I'm still waiting for a DOG instead of a CAT on the product!

Add an I Hate Cats option maybe :)

Not sure if I can give link, as it contains cheap deal links, sent it to you in a PM. I think we got through to S last night in the newsletters though

Ha! Wouldn't you know it? I was waiting for the "T's"! Always a day late and a dollar short!

Yeah, the cat has to go! How many cats do you know that wear glasses anyway! No self respecting dog would be seen looking like that! :devil

Thanks for the PM.
