Multiple instances of "Microsoft Edge WebView2" constantly running while MailWasher is in the background

Understand this — I am neither the Developer of any Firetrust product nor is MailWasher my software.

Understand this — in my part of the world, MailWasher has lost its relevance ever since we transitioned our messaging over to WhatsApp. The e-mail system exists for us only in the Enterprise environment (mostly intranet without the privilege to use third-party programs like MailWasher.) In short, I should be having no motivation to be a part of this forum.

Understand this — despite my circumstances here I am, using MailWasher for a larger cause . . . just to contribute in whatever way I can in the losing war against spam. We βeta-testers try to help other Users overcome their grief with spam (in our spare time) just because Firetrust is a minnow which is grossly understaffed.

Understand this — I am just another User . . . exactly like you & whatever I post is my own personal view, not to be misconstrued as gospel from Firetrust. So, you see . . . I don't need to accept BS from ANYone.

Then your username is misleading, as you've changed around the words "Fire" and "Trust" from the name Firetrust. Unless you would rather allow people to think you work for Firetrust with such a name? if not misleading, then confusing to new users (like me) at the very least.

There "might" be a solution at the end of this — but, due to MY persistence . . . not yours.

Kindly take a step backwards — I have initiated a campaign for this issue in the hidden βeta forums and would hate to sabotage this particular initiative . . . apart from Photoshop, MailWasher & Edge, there are a number of other programs all which inhibit the exact same behavior by design, when relegated to the background. Every further demonstration I showcase here will drive a nail in the coffin.

Whether you like it or not — this is not a bug . . . take it or leave it!

I will not be allowing this issue to become dormant and forgotten and I will continue to seek reassurances that this is being dealt with in a timely manner.

Yep, I am but a mere βeta-tester — pretty much a Messenger who operates on hard technical facts . . . but, refuses to feed Skeptics.

I am someone who offers economical solutions (not feedback) to problems — for example . . . an alternative that doesn't require an all-new API (for the WebView2 Runtime) to be code-written from scratch. A minnow like Firetrust would never entertain an initiative that involved tweaking an API which is to be upgraded as actively as once every week.

Nope, you have not spoken to any Developer — they don't frequent these forums . . . the only way to speak to them is through Messengers (who are not skeptical.)

Hey atiamplan, yes, we're definitely all messengers here... only myself (Jeremy) and Nick, ("nick.bolton") actually work for firetrust and post here, the developer never does, everyone else are users who like to help out for free, all suggestions they make are simply just suggestions, so no problem to ignore or follow them for sure....

I have sent the problem of too many webview processes running when using MW to the developer, just waiting to hear what he comes back with, will definitely post here once I hear back...

I doubt this will be the first and last time that this happened. When you have somebody who has such a poor posting style and attitude with a misleading username, their position should be made clarified in their signature. If the user doesn't want that, then their username should be renamed to something which can't leave future users in doubt.

No problem, however sorry but no, we don't like to tell users what their username should be, he's had that for many many years now, so would not be right... note that our staff signatures always say firetrust employee also...

Re the problem, I have heard back and yes, this is on the to-do list, however as it's not really causing any actual problems, we need to wait until we get MWPro 8 released for these sorts of issues....

Otherwise you run the risk of people encountering the likes of TrustFire whose attitude they might not find positive, therefore forming an inappropriate opinion of the company Firetrust - all because TrustFire allowed a user to misrepresent themselves.

Anyway, that's my final word on that issue. I've no doubt that TrustFire will be along with their rightful opinion soon, to which I will enjoy reading them make a parade of themselves yet again - going through their previous posts, it seems a tradition of theirs. :D

Here is a demonstration by example of yet another program which hooks itself into the WebView2 Runtime — Microsoft Edge (the version illustrated below is the latest 110.0.1587.41 as of typing this post.)

Microsoft Edge is not only in the background but also in a minimized state — if this was truly a bug, the multiple WebView2 Runtime processes should have been purged . . . once Microsoft Edge was relegated to the background (but that is not the case — as clearly evident on the Task Manager)

The WebView2 Runtime is a proprietary Microsoft API — Microsoft gets to decide whether these multiple processes should be purged or not when the program is in the background or in a minimized state . . . it is their way or the highway. Those who are affected by these processes might want to take-up the issue with Microsoft — for me, it's no longer a deal-breaker:—

So, what's the final word on this?
I've been using mailwasher for years and this is the first time I had to do something about a feature/bug in mailwasher. A dozen of processes running at all times is somehow not a perfect solution in my book (I know, I know, who gives a @%#% about my book )
I decided to uninstall edgewebview few days ago. It was hogging up my machine (oldish one to be honest) just enough for me to take a look at what's happening in the background. Now I don't have a web preview but things are running a bit better.
Far from ideal.
So... What's happening?

Probably best to state where, specifically, you see these instances. Are they listed as sub-categories under MailWasherPro, or separately?

They are listed separately but only appear when MailWasher Pro is running. When I close the program, they disappear. I do not use Microsoft Edge browser.
