Mailwasher Pro and Win 7/Thunderbird

I am totally confused about how the mailwasher pro operates in the thunderbird/win 7 environment.

when I go to wash mail, and import them into Thunderbird, messages that are transferred stay in the new message screen.

In addition, mailwasher is rejecting mail that used to clear on XP and Outlook. I spend twice as much time now, reviewing the recycle bin and have to restore a bunch of messages each time.

I transferred the filters from the old system to this one, but its almost to the point where I'm going to stop using mailwasher because it is just too much work to maintain.

From within your Thunderbird GUI, navigate to Tools >>----> Account Settings... >>----> (thereafter, refer to the following illustration):-

Hi, rstetson:

I've been using MWP PRO & TB (POP) forever on many rigs, and on Win7 (both x86 and x64) for almost 3 years with no problems.

Please follow Trustfire's suggestions and you should be just fine. :)
Once you take a moment or two to configure a couple of settings, it's a perfectly compatible combo that works just GREAT!

In fact, MWP is one primary reason I haven't migrated to Mac -- there's no Mac equivalent that's anywhere nearly as helpful or practical.
MWP is the single most important productivity software I run.
Can't live without it! ;)

Don't give up!

A couple of thoughts to get you going. When you do a Wash the emails will stay in the grid until the next time that it does a Check Mail after you have downloaded the messages into your email application which should be set to delete them from the server upon download. There is no transfer of messages. MWP shows what is setting on the server at each Check Mail.

Additionally you should make sure that you have the Delete Column visible in the Inbox Grid as it will show you what messages that it will delete upon doing a Wash. Also in the lower RH side of the Inbox Window there is an indicator that shows you the number of messages that will be deleted upon doing a Wash. If you click on that indicator it will walk you through the messages to be deleted one at a time.

You have to "train" the Bayesian engine in the new version to recognize what your definition of Spam is. If the overall evaluation is not what you want then you need to reclassify those messages that you want to keep.

Until you get comfortable with the MWP evaluation process I suggest that you turn off any Automatic Delete settings in Filters and the Settings, Spam Tools, Spam Ratings area.
