Alternatives to Mailwasher Pro?

Mon Oct 14, 2013 3:37 am

I've been using MailWasher since version 1.32. But with Mailwasher Pro, I don't like this 24.95 annual renewal fee because it's just too much. And it seems there is no lifetime license anymore - at least one that you can trust to be applicable to future major releases.

So has anybody looked in to alternative mail filter software that either have a lifetime license or a more tolerable annual renewal fee? Regex filters are essential.

Yes, that big an annual fee is a step too far, not far off the cost of Microsoft Office on a per machine basis. But there is still the lifetime licence option. You just have to look for it, or wait for one of the occasional deals to arrive.

If those 2 conditions are your only considerations you may want to give this one a try - it should co-exist with the V6 (in case, you're still using it.)

I'm using Mailwasher Pro 2012 1.50 now, with multiple accounts and need the recycle bin, so the free version is not an option. I think MailWasher Pro needs some improvement but it is a good product. Give me a lifetime license for all future versions or limit the annual fee to 9.95 and I'm satisfied. ARE YOU READING THIS, FireTrust folks?

Until then, I will investigate replacements. There are number of alternatives to MailWasher Pro to look into:

That's an old one - the latest one (with plenty of bug-fixes) is available at the following link:--

I'm using the latest version of MailWasher Pro 2012. Check for updates says it's up to date.
What is this 7.20 version -- the last version using the old interface? Is it being maintained?

It's better to subscribe to the topic I linked than check for updates through the interface - the 7.20 (V7) is the latest version of the 2011 / 2012 range (that you mentioned you were already using. The offline installer also has some advanced benefits. :thumbsup

SoSickOfSpam wrote:Is it being maintained?
Oh yes, it is - we are beta-testing the 7.2.6 8)

Those folks reviewed an outdated version - MWP 2010. :crazy

Can I install 7.2 alongside Mailwasher Pro 2012 and is there a way to import all the account settings, filters, etc. from the latter into 7.2?

Who exactly is developing/maintaining 7.2? Firetrust? Or is this just a user-driven effort?

Yes, the installation overwrites your existing installation - nothing needs to be imported. As mentioned earlier, they are both from the same lineage - the 7.2.0 update is free for Users of 2010 / 2011 / 2012 (with many enhancements.)

It's the same product from Firetrust.

Then, why all this confusion and annoyance? What is the roadmap for MailWasher Pro? Will the 2 versions continue to co-exist? Why would anybody stick with 2012 and pay an annual subscription fee if you can install the 7.2 version? Are there limitations in the 7.2 version relative to 2012 ?

There's no confusion - there are no 2 versions (they are both the same - the 7.2.0 is the latest update.)

Since they are both one and the same - the existing subscription carries forward from the 2012 to the V7.

So I still have to pay 24.95 a year with version 7.2?

Nothing changes with your subscription - if you have a lifetime (2012) license the V7 is lifetime, too.

But I don't have a lifetime license for either because one isn't available to purchase anymore, correct? If Firetrust will sell me one, I'll buy it today. Is there some special hidden link to do that? Otherwise, I'm off to investigate a replacement product and my 11.5 year relationship with Firetrust will come to an end. My existing subscription expires in 2 weeks.

I wish I had a lifetime download link to offer you - some sites do intermittently introduce lifetime promotions (for a limited period of time,) if you buy through them.

Maybe some of the other Beta-testers might be able to post such a link - if any.
