Yes, both Yahoo and GMail were unable to connect to their servers.
That's been a waste of time. Uninstalled MWP again, including all settings/data. Reinstalled and used all the previous setting which had been in use for years.
Neither Yahoo or GMail will connect to the servers.
I'm wondering if Tweaking.com's Windows Repair (All in One) might help.

Re: MWP can no longer access the server.
It is a waste of time uninstalling and re-installing MWP — that is not going to help in any way.
BTW, did you check the connectivity after disabling your security system (including your firewall) temporarily?
Can't think of anything else.

Re: MWP can no longer access the server.
Ok. Well, I had to recreate both email accounts anyway.
Yes, I disabled all security programs and the firewall, and MWP still couldn't connect to the servers.

Just tried POP3 on a Yahoo! account and had to make the following 2 changes (inclusive of these changes) — this is what worked for me:—

Re: MWP can no longer access the server.
Thank you Trustfire, I've modified the settings as you suggested, but I'm afraid that hasn't helped. I have also experimented with the GMail settings, also to no effect.
Oh, a step in the right direction - perhaps.
I modified my GMail account to accept less secure applications and MWP now connects to the GMail server/s.
The latter due to having received email from Google saying that "Someone just tried to sign in to your Google Account ..... from an app (sic) that doesn't meet modern security standards."

Glad your Gmail problem is resolved.
As for your Yahoo! issue, let me know if you would like to try out IMAP instead of POP3.

dmb06851, please check out the IMAP settings for Yahoo — not certain that they would necessarily work for you, but worth giving it a shot.

Re: MWP can no longer access the server.
Tried that. After saving the changes in MWP, it reports Connection successful. However after Going to Inbox/Check Mail it doesn't connect.
The Event Log tells me:
"Description:
Failed to login to server "imap.mail.yahoo.com" for your Yahoo account
Diagnosis:
This could suggest the following problems:
- Your username or password is incorrect.
- The server address is incorrect.
- You are trying to connect through an invalid port."

Possibly log into your Yahoo webmail page, and under Options>>Mail Options>>POP & Forwarding, ensure POP (and IMAP?) access is enabled....?
If you still get the message that your username/password is wrong, all else I can think of is to change it and see if MW allows the new password....?

Re: MWP can no longer access the server.
At last ..... it's working.
Despite the fact that MWP said that it successfully connected to the server after making a change in the settings, I decided to change the password anyway.
That has, at least for now, overcome the problem.
Thank you both for your efforts and time. It is appreciated.
