I have just installed Pandora Mail https://www.drivehq.com/web/brana/pandora.htm and it seems to be a perhaps worthy reincarnation of the old Eudora 7.1.0.9 email client which I have used previously. I have also tried MS Outlook but this is a rather clunky and cumbersome email client imo. Eudora is so simple to use but it is no longer supported even though it still has many adherents - even on OS like Windows 10.

I have successfully configured MWPro 7.11 to work on my Telstra Mail account (POP3) and Pandora similarly connects and functions as expected. The mail program required to launch when the Mail Program button is pressed is nominated In MWPro Settings tab under Washing Mail. The only 2 mail programs I had on my PC prior to installing Pandora were Eudora and Outlook so these options were available on the drop down list on the Email program button but there is an option to Use other application. I clicked this option and browsed to C:/Program Files/Pandora/Pandora.exe and saved this path. After closing and restarting MWPro (though this may have been an unnecessary step) I clicked on the Mail Program button to launch Pandora but nothing happened. All I saw was a brief blink and a small blue circle momentarily and that was it.

I then launched Pandora manually from the desktop icon and then minimised it to the task bar. I then brought up MWPro screen and hit the Mail Program button and this time Pandora was called from the task bar successfully.

Can anyone suggest what might be preventing Pandora from launching when Mail Program button is pressed?
Can anyone tell me how to remove the Pandora entry from under the Settings/Washing Mail/ Email Program button so I can select only Eudora or Outlook as before? That way I might be able to start over and find a solution. I don't want to repeat the same selection and have a string of Pandora entries in the Email Program selection menu.

The entries that you see are actually only a reflection of all the e-mail clients that were ever installed in the history of your computer — can point you to the corresponding registry nodes but dabbling in them would only cause you a lot of collateral damage.

As far as MailWasher is concerned, you could try navigating to Help >>----> User Files... >>----> (in the windows that pops open right-click) GeneralSettings.xml >>----> Open with Notepad (or any other Notepad replacement — I prefer Notepad++) >>----> scroll down to the fourth line:—

• <ShellPath>"C:\Program Files\Pandora\Pandora.exe"</ShellPath>
  
  <ShellPath>C:\Program Files\Pandora\Pandora.exe</ShellPath>

You will see either one of the above entries — delete the red part and save GeneralSettings.xml.

The best way to confirm the exact path which is required to be entered into MailWasher is to right-click the Pandora shortcut on your desktop >>----> Properties:—

Thanks for the suggestion. The complete text of my GeneralSettings.xml file are as follows;
There is no <Shellpath> parameter - only the <Name> parameter on line 4.
I assume that if I delete Pandora and save the file it will do the same as you suggest?

Did as suggested and now file reads;

However, after saving file and exiting/restarting MW no change in operation - still does not launch Pandora.

Replacing the line
<Name>Pandora</Name>
with
<ShellPath>"C:\Program Files\Pandora\Pandora.exe"</ShellPath>
simply lists the newly added line in Settings/Washing Mail If I put the line
<Name>Pandora</Name>
back above the line
<ShellPath>"C:\Program Files\Pandora\Pandora.exe"</ShellPath>
then the Settings/Washing Mail screen looks like this While there may be an answer it looks like we still have not discovered it

In that case why don't you browse to the shortcut on your desktop instead and set that Pandora shortcut path in MailWasher, to check whether that works.

Not directly related to your issue, but — (on your own illustration,) you may also want to ensure that the option highlighted below (Launch email program after Wash Mail) is checked (enabled):—

Just another heads-up — ensure that you are running the latest Pandora 1.5.6 (their official release note) indicates that they seem to have fixed a x64-bit bug, that is correlated to the issue you reported, here:—

Nope. That didn't work either

Decided I would start over by first unsinstalling Mailwasher and Pandora.

Then downloaded a fresh copy of MWPro 7.11 and installed that again. After setting up MW I checked to see if Pandora was still in the list of mail clients under Settings/Washing Mail and sure enough it was still there - even though I had uninstalled it.

Dived into Registry and found every last entry with Pandora in it and deleted them (lots of these) and then re-booted. Now MW shows no mention of Pandora in the list of email clients. I think I will do some more research on Pandora (it still has some quirky annoying habits) before installing it again. Not the least is that after uninstalling the prog there are remnants left around to hint that it is still on your system.

Thanks for your efforts in trying to sort this out for me.

I agree completely with the part about Eudora — in my books, it was always among the top 2 e-mail clients of all time (behind The Bat! Professional.)

While Pandora has been touted as the worthy successor to Eudora — in my limited experience, it does not figure even in the top 5 (there are more bugs in Pandora than . . . . . . in all the Motels of Mumbai.)

If you have already paid for your copy, hope you can speak Brana into a refund and reallocate them into a better e-mail client — if not, you might want to engage her in her forums for a resolution of this issue (don't expect to be floored by their customer service, though.)

In the interim I have reverted to Eudora running POP3 account on Telstra Mail. I did try Eudora on IMAP but not happy with the way things worked. I was seeing multiple re-named attachment files for emails which I had left sitting in Inbox on the IMAP account and this just kept filling my Eudora/attach folder with unnecessary junk files. I don't think the same thing happens on a POP3 account if I leave incoming emails sitting in Inbox. Since I don't use multiple devices (don't even have a smartphone and don't want one) a simple POP account suits me fine.

Will definitely get onto Pandora forums and see how other users are finding it. Will also see if I can get a refund from Brana - however, the prog only cost about AUD20 so may not be worth the hassle.

Have practically run out of ideas — here is one last suggestion from my end.

Some apps. and programs use arguments to run the main executable (example — WhatsApp for Desktop) — no reason for Pandora to have stopped working without an argument (be worthwhile to give this a try, though.)

There is a very remote possibility that Pandora could be using a pseudo path — let's find out.

After running Pandora by clicking its shortcut on the desktop, if you inspect the Pandora tab on your taskbar, you would spot a number of sub-items on its jump-list. One of those sub-items would be responsible to throw open Pandora in full open Windows mode when clicked. Now, if you right click this specific sub-item >>----> Properties, you could possibly unearth a pseudo path which is different from the ones which we have been pursuing . . . . . if yes, do input this path into MailWasher to see whether it works.
